Keaton Dwayne Rogers, newborn

    Keaton Dwayne Rogers, newborn son of Casey Wade and Rachel Maxine Ward Rogers, passed away Thursday, August 11, 2016, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.
    Survivors in addition to his father and mother include his grandparents, Richard and Sharon Rogers, Estill County; Dwayne Leon & Joyce Renee Ward, Harrison County; his great grandparents: Gaylord Rogers, Powell County; Mary Durham, Powell County; Jewell Fox, Estill County; Todd & Lena Ward, Fayette County; and Macille Shortland, West Virginia; one sister, Skylar Brooke Rogers, Estill County; two brothers: Matthew Neal, Clark County; and Casey Wade Rogers, Jr.; Estill County; and aunts & uncles: Matthew Ward; Harrison County; Ashley Watson, Harrison County; and Kyle Rogers (Mandi), Franklin County.
    He was preceded in death by two great grandparents: Earl Fox and Billy Ray Shortland.
    Graveside services were conducted Sunday, August 14th at the Rogers Family Cemetery by Bro. Scott Willoughby.

Charlie Tipton, age 72

    Charlie Tipton, age 72, of Winchester Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, August 11, 2016.
    He was born February 23, 1944 in Estill County and was the son of the late Rice and Elizabeth McIntosh Tipton. He was a former Trane employee where he worked for 27 years and retired from the Bluegrass Army Depot. He served 20 years as a National Guardsman and was a member of the American Legion.
    Mr. Tipton is survived by one son, Kevin W. Tipton, Estill County; one sister, Rose Lee Turner, Estill County; one grandchild, Sierra Tipton; and his fiancé, Nancy Rhodes.
    He was preceded in death by three sisters: Lorene Gibbs, Louise Neal and Dorothy Gross; and one brother, Arnold Tipton.
    Funeral services were conducted Monday, August 15th at 11 a.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Glendon Woosley. Burial was at the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Sunday, August 14th at the funeral home.

Harold C. Horn, 78

    Harold C. Horn, age 78, of Sweet Lick Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2016, at the Baptist Health Richmond following a short illness.
    He was born April 7, 1938 in Estill County and was the son of the late Charlie Green and Cubie Rawlins Horn. He attended the First Church of God and had lived in Estill County all of his life.
    Mr. Horn is survived by one sister: Sandra Eleen Horn Newton (Tony), Irvine; two brothers: Glendon Edward Horn, Irvine; and Chester Ray Horn, Lexington; his aunt: Evelyn Rawlins, Irvine; his uncle: Eugene Rawlins (Ethel), Irvine; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services were conducted Sunday, August 14th at 2 p.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Danny Neal. Burial was at the Rawlins Cemetery. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Saturday, August 13th at the funeral home.

James Everett Walling, 78

    James Everett Walling, age 78, of Broadway in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at his home following a short illness.
    He was born September 22, 1937, in Estill County, a son of the late Howell and Fannie Mae Charles Walling. He was a former union plumber and had lived in Estill County all of his life. He was a member of the Ravenna Church of God.
    Mr. Walling is survived by his wife, Eva Mae Willis Walling; two daughters: Brenda Turner, Waco; and Kelly Goosey, Irvine; one son, James William Walling, Waco; two stepsons: Billy Joe Wallace, Irvine; and Dwight Keith Wallace, Michigan; one sister, Ruby Moreland, Irvine; one brother, Floyd Walling, Irvine; seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by five siblings: Opal Walling, Drucilla Gross, Garrett Walling, Glen Walling, and Harold Gene Walling; and one grandson.
    Funeral services were conducted Saturday, August 13th at 1:00 p.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Willie Hargus Gordon with burial following in the Oakdale Cemetery. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Friday, August 12th at the funeral home.

William B. “Bill” Freeman, 57

William B. "Bill" Freeman

    William B. “Bill” Freeman, age 57, lost his battle with cancer on Saturday, August 6, 2016, at Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, Kentucky.
    He was born on November 13, 1958 to Boyd and Lois (Moore) Freeman. Bill was employed as a truck driver by The Allen Company. He was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Berea.
    Mr. Freeman was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Larry, Gary and Danny Freeman.
    Bill is survived by his wife, Sandy Abrams Freeman; his son, Mark Parker (Erlena); one daughter, Kelley Freeman; a sister, Colleen Rogers (Herbert), sisters-in-law: Cindy Freeman, Carolyn Freeman, Wanda Renner (Thomas); a brother-in-law, Bernie Abrams (Susan), and numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved very much.
    Visitation was held Tuesday, August 9th from 5-8 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1138 Paint Lick Road in Berea. Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 10th at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial followed in Madison County Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
    Pallbearers were Mark Parker, Shane Allen, David Freeman, Darren Northern, Herbert Rogers III, and Danny Rose.
    Honorary pallbearers are Jim Abney, Boyd Adams, Larry Chadwick, Bob Cornelison, Dennis Grant, and Joe Kays.

Sarah Jewell Donahue Henry, 85

    Sarah Jewell Donahue Henry, age 85, of Evergreen Drive in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Friday, August 5, 2016 at her home following a short illness.
    She was born June 5, 1931, in Estill County, a daughter of the late John Earl and Jessie Mae Farthing Donahue. She was a homemaker and had lived in Estill County all of her life. She was a member of the New Life Apostolic Church.
    Mrs. Henry was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Lee Henry.
    She is survived by three daughters: Sarah Jane Healey (Robert Edward), Shirley Mae Henry, both of Berea; and Margaret Lee Creech (Mike), Irvine; one son, Donald Ray Henry, Irvine; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
    Mrs. Henry was preceded in death by four siblings: Mary Frances Estes, W. Brown Donahue, Forest Ward Donahue, and Harvey Donahue.
    Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the New Life Apostolic Church by Rev. Ross Conley and Rev. Alan Peevler with burial following in the Oakdale Cemetery. Friends called after 11 a.m., Tuesday, at the church until funeral time.
    Pallbearers were Caleb Coffey, Steven Napper, Mike Creech, Bob Healey, Sammy McIntosh, and Gary Grace.

Melissa "Lisa" Jane Riddell Martin, 35

    Melissa "Lisa" Jane Riddell Martin, age 35, wife of Jesse, passed away Friday, August 5, 2016 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, after a long illness.
     Mrs. Martin, "Lisa" to her friends, was a native of Estill County, born September 6, 1980, a daughter of Judy Tipton Riddell, and the late Tommy Riddell. She was a member of the Substation Pentecostal Holiness Church, who enjoyed fishing, UK basketball, and music.
     Survivors other than her husband Jesse, include her mother, Judy Tipton Riddell; her son, Dylan Marcum; her stepson, Cole L. Martin; her stepdaughter, Alissa Martin; her sister, Tonya Dixon (Steven); her nephew, Ethan Dixon; and lots of special friends and family.
     Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 9th at Lewis Funeral Home with Wayne Knopp officiating. Burial followed in the Gary Riddell Memorial Cemetery. Friends called anytime after 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.
     Pallbearers were Ethan Dixon, Rodney Wills, Jeff Wills, Bryan Thomas, Frank Johnson, and Scott Martin.

Jason Glenn Roberts, 40

    Jason Glenn Roberts, age 40, of Richmond, Kentucky, passed away Friday morning, August 5, 2016.
     Jason was born on October 9, 1975 in Madison County and was an employee of Critchfield Meats of Lexington.
    He is survived by three children: his oldest daughter, Chelsea Roberts; one son and one daughter: Corbin and Madison Roberts and their mother, Jessica; his mother, Sharon Story Tudor; his father and step-mother: Ronald Glenn Roberts (Jeanie) of Irvine; and one brother, Justin Shane Roberts; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
    Services were at 1:30 p.m., Monday, August 8th at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, 328 West Main Street, Richmond, with burial following in the Richmond Cemetery. Visitation was from 6-9 p.m., Sunday, August 7th at the funeral home.

    Zachary Scott McKinney Grensavitch, age 23, of Crooked Creek Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at his home.
    He was born October 2, 1992, in Riverside, California, the son of Michael Christopher and Kim Cherie McKinney Grensavitch. He worked for Amazon and had lived in Estill County for the past year.
    In addition to his parents, he is also survived by his grandparents, Ron and Linda McKinney, Irvine; great grandparent: Delores Brown, Irvine; and a sister, Savannah Rose Grensavitch, Estill County.
    Memorial services were conducted Sunday, August 7th at 3:00 p.m. at the Christian Worship Center by Bro. Jimmy Bonny.

Clayton Roberts

    Clayton Roberts, age 88, husband of Juanita Scrivner Roberts, of Lexington, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2016.
    He was born December 18, 1927 in Irvine, Kentucky, to the late Minor Clinton and Fannie Mays Roberts. Mr. Roberts was a United States Army veteran and worked in quality control at IBM. He was a charter member of Gardenside Christian Church, and a member of the 101 Club at U. K.
    Surviving relatives include two sons, Scott Roberts (Jodi) and Mark Roberts (Donna); seven grandchildren, Cheryl, Brandon, Austin, Brooke, Caleigh, Spencer and Connor Roberts; and one great grandchild, Emma. Also, he is survived by one sister, Dora Roberts Winkle; and three brothers: Lloyd Roberts (Betty), Paul Roberts (Charlotte) and Wayne Roberts (Susie).
    He was preceded in death by five sisters: Ida Mae Freeman, Lois Nugent, Hazel Tomes, Cora Wilson, and Ruby Smyth; and one brother, Donald Roberts.
    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 24th at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Road in Lexington, by Minister Bill Kennedy. Burial followed in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens. Visitation was 12:00 Noon until the service time, Tuesday, at the funeral home.

KSP Continues Search for Two Murder Suspects from Lee County

    Personnel from the Kentucky State Police, Richmond and Hazard posts, apprehended two suspects alleged to be involved in the death of Billy Roark that occurred more than a week ago in Lee County.
    Jay N. Shoemaker, 39 years old of Beattyville, and Raigan D. Griffin, 22 years old of Beattyville were located at residence off of Rock Lick Road in rural Breathitt County and taken into custody just after 6:30 pm today. Both Shoemaker and Griffin are lodged at the Three Forks Regional Detention Center, charged with Complicity to Commit Murder.
    Two additional individuals, Amy Turner, 31 years old of Beattyville, and Alysia Hensley, 33 years old of Beattyville were arrested and charged with Hindering Prosecution and are also lodged in the Three Forks Regional Detention Center.
    The Richmond Post had requested the public’s help to find Shoemaker and Griffin who were believed to be involved in the death of Billy Roark last week in Lee County.
    On August 7, 2016 KSP arrested four individuals after two deceased Lee County men were found just off of Hell Creek Road in Lee County.
    The initial investigation indicates that Billy Roark, 27 years old of Beattyville, and James R. Brown, 36 years old of Beattyville, were fatally shot the previous Thursday night in two separate incidents. Billy Roark’s body was found on Friday morning and the body of James Brown was found on Saturday night. They were both pronounced deceased at the scene by the Lee County Coroner.
    As a result of the ongoing investigation, four people have been arrested and charged for their alleged involvement in the deaths of Roark and Brown. Wesley T. Johnson, 22 years old of Irvine and Kevin F. Kendall, 32 years old of Beattyville, have been arrested and charged with Complicity to Murder. Anthony T. Taylor, 34 years old of Beattyville and Kasandra K. White, 23 years old of Beattyville have been arrested and charged with Murder and Complicity to Murder.
    The ongoing investigation is being conducted by KSP Detective Jesse Armstrong.
