    Chilton Neal Jr., age 84, widower of Carol Baber Neal, passed away late Friday night, November 24, 2017 at the Eastern Kentucky Veterans Center in Hazard, Kentucky.
    He was a native of Estill County, born May 28, 1933, a son of the late Chilton and Lillian McIntosh Neal. He was a United States Army veteran, a former employee of the Bluegrass Army Depot, and worked for the railroad. He was a member of Rice Station Christian Church.
    Mr. Neal was preceded in death by his daughter, Holly Estes; his sisters, Myraellen Stone and Kate Crouch; and his special friends, Earl Horn and Elbee “Mudduck” Murphy.
    Survivors include his sons, Philip Neal (Teresa), and Curt Neal (Rhonda); his son-in-law, Tommy Estes (Carolyn); his grandchildren: Chris Estes (Angie), Philip Neal Jr., Brenton Estes (Courtney), Mandy Neal, and Maggie Neal; his great grandchildren: Holly Neal, Haley Neal, Ben Neal, Peyton Estes, Waylon Estes, Brayden Estes, and Austyn Estes; and his good friend, Henry Sizemore.
    Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 29, at Lewis-Abner Home for Funerals with Bro. Kirt Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with full military honors. Friends may call anytime after 12:00 Noon, Wednesday, until service time at the funeral home.

Norbert T. (Tommy) Ohlmann, 65

    Norbert T. (Tommy) Ohlmann, age 65, of Winchester, Kentucky, husband of Barbara Puckett Ohlmann, passed away Friday, November 24, 2017 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.
    Tommy was born in Fayette County on June 11, 1952 to the late Norbert Frederick Ohlman and Helen B. Ashcraft Ohlmann. He was a retired truck driver for Southern States Feed Mill and UPS Freight.
    In addition to his loving wife, Barbara; Tommy is survived by one daughter, Barbara Lynn Ohlmann (Russell Burton) of Winchester; one son, Mathew T. Ohlmann; two grandchildren, Keisha Lynn Ohlmann and Dylan Thomas Poynter; one sister, Penny Stanfield of Clark County; and two nieces, Jane Lynn Battaile and Roselee Flynn. He also leaves behind his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Frank and Audrey Puckett.
    Funeral services honoring the life of Tommy Ohlmann will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Scobee Funeral Home by Bro. Jerry Smith. Burial will follow in the Winchester Cemetery. Visitation will also be on Thursday at the funeral home from 12:00 Noon until the time of service.

Olive Edwards Rogers, 95

    Olive Edwards Rogers, age 95, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2017, at Cold Spring Transitional Care, in Cold Spring, Kentucky. Olive was the widow of Herbert James Rogers who passed in 1980. Both are now at home with their Heavenly Father.
    Olive was born on June 20, 1922, in Irvine, Kentucky, the daughter of James Corbett and Mary Wolfinbarger Edwards.
    Survivors include one daughter, Hertha R. Smith (Bill) of Florence; one son, Herbert James "Jim" Rogers Jr.(Rekenna) of Garner, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Brian Scott Rogers (Holly) of Orlando, Florida; Megan Ashley White (Neil) of Lenoir, North Carolina; and Michael James Rogers (Lori) of Rochester, Minnesota; four great grandchildren, Wyatt Alexander Rogers of Orlando, Mary Grace Rogers, Katie James Rogers, and Emme Lou Rogers of Rochester; one step-great granddaughter, Trinity Dawn White of Lenoir two step-great grandsons, Josh Zook and Clay Zook of Orlando. Olive is also survived by one sister, Sandra E. Crawford (Rowan) of Mason, Ohio; one sister-in-law, Judy Edwards (Owen) of Riverside, Alabama; and numerous nieces and nephews.
    Olive was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three brothers, James E. "Mickey" Edwards (Louise), Leo "Pete" Edwards (Betty), and Owen "Ferd" Edwards (Judy); and three sisters, Rubye E. Strong (Merrill), Mary E. Frazier (Leon), and Cleo Edwards.
    She was employed by the Blue Grass Ordnance Depot during World War II, and later she retired from the meat department at the Kroger Grocery in Richmond. Both Olive and Herbert were honored to be Kentucky Colonels. She loved to cook, make beautiful quilts and also embroidery work. Olive was a 1940 graduate of Irvine High School, married Herbert, and moved to Richmond in 1947. She lived in Richmond for 54 years, and then moved to Florence, in 2001 to be near her daughter. In 2015 she moved to Cold Spring Transitional Care in Cold Spring, Kentucky, where she passed.
    On Tuesday, November 28, 2017, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. there was visitation at the Lewis-Abner Home for Funerals. Pastor Brian Heckber of First Church of Christ, Burlington, conducted the funeral service at 2:00 p.m.
    Pallbearers were Jim Rogers, Brian Rogers, Michael Rogers, and Ron Weaver.
    Immediately following the funeral service, the burial took place at Sunset Memorial Gardens in West Irvine, KY.

Elizabeth Ann Powell, 61

    Elizabeth Ann Powell, age 61, of James West Way in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Monday, November 20, 2017, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.
    She was born January 4, 1956 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late James and Ida Bea Puckett West. She was a former employee of Wal-Mart and formerly attended the White Oak Church of God.
    Mrs. Powell is survived by her husband, Breck Powell; three daughters: April Riddell (Robin), Mandy Beckler (John), and Darla Estes (Jacob), all of Irvine; two stepchildren: Sheri Powell (Mike) and Gary Powell (Robin), both of Irvine; two brothers: Otis West (Rene) and David West Sr. (Darlene), both of Irvine; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by one son, Billy “Bo” Abney Jr.; and one sister, Mandy Delores Woolery.
    Funeral services were conducted Saturday, November 25, 11:00 a.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Scott Rogers. Burial was at the Dunaway Cemetery. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Friday, November 24th at the funeral home.
    Pallbearers were Stephen Riddell, Logan Beckler, Cody Beckler, Trinity McIntosh, Tyler Morgan and David West Jr.
    Honorary pallbearers were Robert Morgan, Jacob Estes, Oliver Hensley and Jordan Powell.

Wilbert E. Wise

    Wilbert E. Wise, age 94, passed away Monday, November 20, 2017 in Texas.
    He was born July 15, 1923 in Ticky Fork, Estill County, Kentucky to parents Elva and Mary Wise. He was the eldest of 10 children. Despite some hard times he had fond memories of his childhood in Kentucky. During World War II, he proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Communications expert as part of the 304th Signal Operation BN in the Pacific Arena. He worked for South Western Bell/ATT for 40 years, with accolades for 29 years of service with no absences. He and wife, Lynn were members of the New York Avenue Church of Christ for approximately 20 years.
    Wilbert was preceded in death by his first wife, Georgia Margueritte "Peggy" Wise; a sister, Opal Critchfield; and a brother, James O. Wise.
    Survivors include his wife, Lynn Ella Wise; daughters, Karen Branzell (Mark), Michelle Sorcic (Andy), and Choralen LaSalle (Jerry); a brother, Alonzo Wise (Margaret); sisters, Thelma Dunaway, Elfreda Wickizer, Chrystal Ashcraft, Wavelene Dunaway (Damon), Mary Alva Fox (Harry Dale) and Lynda Parks (Monty); as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and stepsons, Floyd Adams (Carol), Dennis Adams, George Adams (Tonya) and Robert Allen.
    Visitation was held on Friday, November 24, 1-2 p.m., at New York Avenue Church of Christ, followed by funeral services at 2:00 p.m. at the church. Burial was at Emerald Hills Memorial Park in Kennedale, Texas.

Ruby Mae Sparks, 72

    Ruby Mae Sparks, age 72, of North Keeneland Drive in Richmond, Kentucky, passed away Friday, November 17, 2017, at her home following a short illness.
    She was born April 28, 1945, in Lee County, a daughter of the late Sherman and Nannie Jones Barrett Dozier. She was a homemaker and a member of the White Hall Holiness Church.
    Mrs. Sparks is survived by her husband, Earl Junior Sparks; a daughter, Kimberly Bourland, Chapel Hill, Tennessee; three sons: Flemon Junior Sparks, Springfield, Tennessee; Michael Glenn Sparks and Marcus Eugene Sparks, both of Richmond; two sisters: Ruth Sparks, Madison County; Eva Collins, Estill County; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by two sons: Charles Earl Sparks and Danny Lee Sparks; two sisters: Blanche Sparks and Lizzie Barrett; and four brothers: John, Claude, Charlie, and Lester Barrett.
    Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, November 21, 11:00 a.m. at the Pine Grove Pentecostal Church by Bro. Sydney Sparks and Bro. Elvie Evans with burial following in the Boian Cemetery. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Monday, November 20th at the church.
    Pallbearers were Tyler Sparks, Levi Jones, Dustin Fitzgerald, Corey Sparks, James Bourland and Kenneth Sparks.

Lewis William Rose, age 83

    Lewis William Rose, age 83, of Rose Ridge Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at the Stanton Nursing Center following a long illness.
    He was born May 4, 1934 in Estill County and was the son of the late Earnest and Carrie Judd Rose. He was a farmer and had lived in Estill County most of his life.
    Mr. Rose was preceded in death by his wife, Allene Lutes Rose.
    He is survived by one daughter, Jeanette Stepp (Billy), Irvine; two sons: Glenn Rose, Irvine; and Travis Rose (Sharon), Richmond; six grandchildren: Amy Taylor, Travenna Flynn, Julie Rose, Cindy Pryor, Dwayne Rose and Shawn Stepp; 12 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
    He was preceded in death by two sisters: Fairy Rose Warner and Ferbie Rose Hall; and four brothers: Nolan, Linville, Nathan and Lonnie Rose.
    Funeral services were conducted Friday, November 17, 1 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. David Watson. Burial was at the Rose-Freeman Cemetery. Friends called after 11:00 a.m., Friday, at the funeral home.
    Pallbearers were Jullie Rose, Cindy Pryor, Shawn Stepp, Logan Mullins, Dwayne Rose, Lucas Flynn, Callie Mullins, Coral Mullins and Amy Taylor.

Jeweldena Tipton Smyth Carroll

    Jeweldena Tipton Smyth Carroll, age 88, retired hairdresser and avid crafter passed away on Monday, November 13, 2017.
    She was born September 6, 1929 to the late Ethel Arthur Tipton & Hubert Lee Tipton.
    Mrs. Carroll is survived by three sons: Jessie Edwin "Eddie" Smyth, Linville Smyth, and Gary Lee Smyth (Mary); one daughter, Melanie Smyth; eight grandchildren: Melinda "Mindy" Smyth Riddell, Justin Smyth, Bryan Smyth, Phillip Smyth, Christina "Chrissie" Smyth, Kera Smyth, Rebecca "Becca" Smyth, and Stephen Smyth; five great grandchildren; and two sisters: Wavilene Tipton Powell of Ohio, and Wanda Tipton of Ravenna.
    Private services were scheduled.

Uleena Kay Stone, 68

    Uleena Kay Stone, age 68, of Sandhill Road in Irvine passed away Monday, November 13, 2017, at the St. Joseph Hospital following a short illness.
    She was born November 26, 1948 in Montgomery County, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Elias and Lillian Fawns Blevins. She was a retired Bank One employee and attended the Sandhill Christian Church.
    Mrs. Stone is survived by her husband, Franklin D. Stone; two daughters: Sherry Vice, Lexington; and Mary Baldwin (Bruce), Estill County; one son, Jay Wyatt (Melanie), Nicholasville; one sister, Donna Shields, Owingsville; two brothers: Henry Blevins, Somerset; and Ralph Blevins, Florida; several stepchildren, several grandchildren and step-grandchildren; and several great grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by two sisters, Delena Letcher and Mary Belle Hutchinson.
    Graveside services were conducted Thursday, November 16, 12 Noon, at the Amos Richardson Cemetery by Sister Audrey Conkright. Friends called from 11:00 a.m., until service time, Thursday, at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home.

Bethel Rawlins-Leek, 91

    Bethel Rawlings-Leek, a life-long Christian and resident of Lexington, Kentucky, has passed away peacefully on November 9, 2017 at the age of 91.
    Bethel is survived by her daughter, Bethel Baker; grandchildren: Penny Caldwell (Frank) of Mount Vernon, and Keith Wiggins of Lexington; and great grandchildren: Russell Wasson, Angie Wasson, Shawn Wasson, all of Lexington; Justin Caldwell (Rachel), Sandra Bledsoe, both of Mount Vernon; and Dalton Wiggins of Harlan. She is also survived by her great, great grandchildren that will miss her beautiful smile and laughter. She is also survived by her niece, Sandy Rawlins of Irvine.
    Bethel was born in Estill County, Kentucky on November 10, 1925. She was a devoted grandmother and mother. She enjoyed walking, talking with her family, and preaching the Lord's words from her bible. She was a very faithful and devoted Christian to the Lord.
    Visitation began at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 17, at Lewis-Abner Home for Funerals, followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m., with burial in West Irvine Cemetery.
