Imogene Tompkins, 90


Imogene Thompkins

    Imogene Tompkins was born March 11, 1927 in Jackson County, Kentucky, and departed this life Wednesday, March 7, 2018, being 90 years of age. She was the daughter of the late Hiram and Virgie Smith.
    On October 30, 1948 Imogene married the love of her life, Benjamin Franklin Tompkins, and they were married for 50 years.
    In addition to her parents, Imogene was also preceded in death by her husband, Frank Tompkins; and by four brothers, Regan, Homer, Jack and Alpine Smith.
    Imogene is survived by six children, Benny Tompkins (Carolyn) of Lexington, Ray Tompkins (Sue) of Berea, Brenda Hays (Dennis) of Gray Hawk, Roger Tompkins (Teresa) of Berea, John Tompkins of McKee and Jenny Lovins (Jim) of Berea. She is also survived by two brothers, Dallas Smith (Carol) of New Carlisle, Ohio; and Kirby Joe Smith (Loretta) of Mason, Ohio; and also by two sisters-in-law, Georgie Smith and Jean Smith. Imogene was blessed with 17 grandchildren, Jeanna Wright, Benj Tompkins, Kristy Fortney, Candy Hampton, Cassie Henry, Shaun Hays, Steph Hays, Aaron Tompkins, Ramey Tompkins, John Adam Tompkins, Cathy Tompkins, Andrew Tompkins, Chance Lovins, Chestney Lovins, Chase Lovins, Chaden Lovins, and Jesslyn Cox; by two step grandchildren, Denise Ballard and Ronnie Rice Jr.; 12 great grandchildren, Jalyn Richardson, Julie Tompkins, Megan Winkler, Jeanna Faye Fortney, Dakota & Brooklyn Venable, Cameron Hampton, Peyten Dalten Henry, Nicholas, Delanie, Jacob, Mattie Emily Hays and Isabella Gray and by one great great grandchild, Kinley Blayke Sizemore. She was also blessed with several nieces and nephews.
    Imogene was a member of the McKee Reformed Church. She enjoyed hobbies such as sewing, quilting and crochet. She also loved babysitting and her little dog, Little Man.
    The funeral service was at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 12, at Lakes Funeral Home in McKee with burial following in the Stone Coal Cemetery.
    Pallbearers were Ramey, Benj, Shaun, Nicholas, Aaron Andy, John Adam, Chaden & Chase.
    Honorary pallbearers Alice Gilbert, Freda Sams, Teresa Moore, Sandy Lakes, Vickie Gabbard, Joey Smith and Jeff Smith.

Linda Lou Adams, 64

    Linda Lou Adams, age 64, of Elm Street in Ravenna, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2018, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, following a short illness.
    She was born June 4, 1953 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Hurley and Jeanette Stevens McKinney. She was a former Carhartt, Inc. employee and had lived in Estill County most of her life. She was a member of the South Irvine Baptist Church and enjoyed going to the Horizon Adult Healthcare Center.
    Mrs. Adams is survived by her husband, Douglas C. Adams; one son: Johnathan Nicholas Jelley, Estill County; one stepdaughter: Charlotte Willis (Bobby), Estill County; two sisters, Charolette Webb and Janice Hoover, both of Estill County; two brothers: Kenneth McKinney, Estill County; and Hurley McKinney, Shelbyville; two grandchildren: Nicholas David Jelley and Eli Christopher Jelley; and one step-grandchild, Ebony Hope Willis.
    She was preceded in death by one sister, Brenda Shouse.
    Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, March 7, 11:00 a.m., at the South Irvine Baptist Church by Bro. Donnie Burford. Burial was at the Cane Springs Cemetery. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Tuesday, March 6th at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home and after 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, at the Church.

Charles Ova Burton

    Charles Ova Burton, age 77, of Clay City, Kentucky, passed away Friday, March 2, 2018 at his residence. He was a former employee of the Ford Motor Company and a member of the Light House Baptist Church in Berea.
    He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Burton of Clay City, three sons: James Burton of Irvine, Douglas Brandenburg (Jessica) of Irvine, and Ethan Adams of Clay City; five daughters: Carol Barnett (Zack), Sheila Barnett (Herbie), Judy Abner, Sabrina Barnett (Steve) and Tabitha Addison, all of Clay City; 17 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and a brother, William Burton (Elizabeth) of McKee.
    Mr. Burton was preceded in death by his first wife, Cora Burton; a son, Jeffrey Burton; sisters: Gladys Tirey, Jewel Dene Griffith, Sirilda Sparks, Mary Isaacs, and Cora Phillips; and a brother, Henry Burton.
    Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 7, at the Grayson Funeral Home Chapel, 201 7th Avenue in Clay City, with Bro. Anthony Williams officiating. Friends visited Wednesday from 11 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home. Burial was in the Elbert Sparks Cemetery in Beattyville.

Teddie Agnes Gentry, 81

    Teddie Agnes Gentry, age 81, of Dark Hollow Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2018, at the Irvine Nursing & Rehabilitation Center following a short illness.
    She was born August 28, 1936 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Alfred and Bertha Tipton Dunaway. She was a former bus driver with the Estill County Board of Education and a member of the Thomas Baptist Church. She had lived in Estill County all her life.
    Mrs. Gentry was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Park Gentry.
    She is survived by four daughters: Charlotte Brinegar (David), Robin Rison (Ronald), Bernita Lane (Tommy), and Kathy Rogers (Kendall), all of Estill County; one son, Alfred Earl Gentry (Tina), Estill County; one sister, Eva Mastin, Indiana; two brothers: Nelson Dunaway, Ohio; and Damon Dunaway, Estill County; 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
    Mrs. Gentry was preceded in death by five brothers: Ray, Glen, Paul, Millard “Dude” and L.C. Dunaway; and one sister, Katherine Kincaid.
    Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, March 6, 1 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Rick Kirby. Burial was at the West Irvine Cemetery. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Monday, March 5, at the funeral home.
    Pallbearers were Brandon Brinegar, Michael Blankenbecler, Oliver Welch, Clay Mansfield, Justin Spicer, Jon Lane, Ben Rosenbauer and Jaycob Gentry.

Theda Joyce Richardson White, 81

    Theda Joyce Richardson White, age 81, of Richmond, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Bluegrass Hospice Care Center at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
    Born October 26, 1936, in Estill County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of George H. and Mary Elizabeth (Isaacs) Richardson, both of whom preceded her in death, and the widow of Robert C. White. Mrs. White was a retired Business Manager for several Memphis Radio Stations and a member of the Berea United Methodist Church.
    Survivors include one sister, Bonita Richardson Cain (Paul) of Waco; one brother, Cecil Richardson (Anna Bell) of Lexington; and several nieces and nephews.
    In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Cordelia R. Hamm; and a brother Forrest Richardson.
    Funeral services for Mrs. White were held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 4, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, 1110 Barnes Mill Road, Richmond, with Bro. Greg Hackworth officiating. Burial followed in the Powell's Valley Cemetery at Clay City. Visitation was from 5 – 9 p.m., Saturday, March 3rd at the funeral home.

Bryant William Clair, 88

    Bryant William Clair, age 88, of Overlook Drive in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2018, at the Lee County Health & Rehabilitation Center in Beattyville, following a long illness.
    He was born April 1, 1929 in Breathitt County and was the son of the Irvine and Ida Spicer Clair. He was a retired school bus driver with the Campbell County School System and a member of the Ravenna Church of God.
    Mr. Clair was preceded in death by his wife, Ona Mae Osborne Clair.
    He is survived by three sons: Donald Clair (Sharon), Alexandria; Bobby Clair (Brenda), Irvine; and Brian David Clair, Erlanger; four sisters: Irene Russell, Pennsylvania; Roberta Caudill, Texas; Lily Mae Noble, Jackson; and Shirley Johnson, Ohio; four brothers: Cecil Clair, Mitchell Clair, Jackson; Roscoe Clair, Northern Kentucky; and Leander Clair, Michigan; ten grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by two daughters: Sharon Kay Clair and Charlotte Ruby McKenzie; one son, William K. “Bill” Clair; three sisters: Ona V. Burton, Mary Lou Burton, and Martha Clair; and two brothers: Solomon and Franklin Clair.
    Graveside services were conducted Sunday, March 4, 1:00 p.m., at the Clair Cemetery in Lee County. Friends called between 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., Sunday at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home.
    Pallbearers were Chance Clair, Ben Allex, Nathan Russell, Pernell Caudill, Rex Caudill and Tim Clair.

JoAnn Stewart

    JoAnn Stewart, age 74, widow of Horace Vinson Stewart of Powell Road, Clay City, Kentucky, passed away at her residence on February 27, 2018.
    Born August 22, 1943, in Newport, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Clay and Lucy Juanita Combs. JoAnn was a member of West Bend First Church of God and a former cook at Kathy's Country Kitchen.
    In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jimmy Combs; and by two sisters, Juanita Johnson and Nancy Longbottom.
    JoAnn is survived by one son, Darrin Stewart of Clay City; two daughters: Loretta Glisson of Clay City; and Debbie Barnes (Thomas) of Irvine; one sister, Betty Hampton of Stanton; five grandchildren: Joshua Stewart, Mara Branham, Stephen Barnes, Samantha Roland and Seth Stewart; along with seven great grandchildren.
    Funeral services officiated by Bro. James Harold Combs were held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 2, at Hearne Funeral Home Inc., 125 West College Avenue, Stanton. Visitation begins at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, March 1, at the funeral home. Burial was in Clay City-Eaton Cemetery with Seth Stewart, Joshua Stewart, Darrin Stewart, Joshua Branham, Charlie Townsend and Brian Daniels serving as active pallbearers.
    Honorary pallbearers were Stephen Barnes, Mason Branham, Zoey Robinson, Zayden Stewart and Jace Stewart.

    Clarice Wolfinbarger, age 63, of Harvest Drive in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, following a short illness.
    She was born November 25, 1954 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was a retired nutrition assistant with the University of Kentucky and was a member of the Sandhill Christian Church and the Estill County Homemakers Club.
    Mrs. Wolfinbarger is survived by her husband, Dirk D. Wolfinbarger; three sisters: Verna Rae Dehart (Danny), Jeffersonville; Melanie Donahue (Michael), Irvine; and Danna Hickerson (Larry), Morehead; and one brother, Jonathan David Witt, Irvine.
    She was preceded in death by her grandparents who raised her: Everett and Garnett Witt; and two brothers: Kerry Lee Witt and Ollie Bruce Witt.
    Funeral services were conducted Monday, March 5, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Matt Vaught and Bro. Ray Harold Hardy. Burial was at the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Sunday, March 4th at the funeral home.

Clayton Angel

    Clayton Angel, age 77, of Richmond Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Monday, February 26, 2018, at the Irvine Nursing & Rehabilitation Center following a long illness.
    He was born April 30, 1940 in Arvel, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Grover and Lottie Isaacs Angel. He had worked 40 years as a mechanic at Puckett Garage and attended the Irvine First Church of God. He had lived in Estill County most of his life.
    Mr. Angel is survived by his wife, Vernessa Jane Brady Plowman Angel; one daughter, Carolyn Alcorn (Raymond L.), Estill County; one son, Danny Angel (Traci), Estill County; one stepson, Joe Plowman (Shauna), Estill County; six grandchildren ten great grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Angel; and one great grandchild.
    Funeral services were conducted Thursday, March 1, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Jerry Rose. Burial was at the South Irvine Cemetery. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Wednesday, February 28th at the funeral home.
