Gregory Scott Rogers

    Gregory Scott Rogers, age 58, of Furnace Junction in Ravenna, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, August 18, 2019 at the Marcum and Wallace Hospital following a long illness.
    He was born March 26, 1961 in Estill County to John “Sonny” Rogers and Wanda Sparks Rogers. He attended the Church of God and lived in Estill County most of his life.
    Mr. Rogers is survived by his parents: John and Wanda Sparks Rogers, Estill County; one daughter, Paige Fugate, Perry County; two sons: Jon Rogers (Ciaria Hall), Estill County; and Jake Rogers (Anna), Powell County; one sister, Sandy Rogers (Maggie), Virginia; one brother, Doug Rogers (Verna), Powell County; five grandchildren: Nicholas Fugate, Shyanna Rogers, Gabriel Rogers, Evelyn Rogers, and Emilia Rogers; and several nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, August 21, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Kenny Wasson. Burial will follow in the Mountain Springs Cemetery. Friends may call between 6-9 p.m., Tuesday, August 20th at the funeral home.

Christopher Todd Hamm

    Christopher Todd Hamm, age 38, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2019 at the Marcum-Wallace Hospital in Irvine, Kentucky.
    He was a native of Estill County, born July 18, 1981, a son of the late Scotty and Helen Anglin Hamm. Mr. Hamm was a roofer, who enjoyed hunting agate.
    Survivors include his daughter, Brianna Hamm; his brothers: Billy Hamm (Linda), Greg Hamm (Faye), and Jamie Hamm (Paula); his sisters: Teresa Hamm, Sandy Flynn (Tony) and Joyce Walters (Buck); and many nieces and nephews.
    Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 20, 2019, at Lewis-Abner Home for Funerals with Bro. Tim Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the Walton Cemetery. Friends may call anytime after 12:00 Noon until service time at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Rocky Kyle Osborne

    Rocky Kyle Osborne, age 41, of Murray, Kentucky, died at 8:30 p.m., Saturday, August 17, 2019 at his residence.
    He was born October 22, 1977 in Madison County to Randall Kyle Osborne and the late Kitty Louise Deming Osborne.
    Rocky leaves behind two beautiful children, Addisson Ruby Osborne (age 10) and Ryler Kyle Osborne (age 9); his two best friends, his father, Randall Kyle Osborne and his grandmother, Faye Etta Brinegar; a sister, Angela King (Bruce) and nephew Isaiah; a brother, Christopher Osborne (Michelle) and nephews Cody and Hunter and niece Kristen; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
    He is loved deeply and will be dearly missed.
    There will be a private family service at a later date.

Marion Bush Hardy

    Marion Bush Hardy, age 94, formerly of Ravenna, Kentucky, departed this life Friday, August 16th, 2019.
    She was born in Estill County, October 22, 1924, the daughter of the late James Clark Hardy Sr. and the late Mary Bush Hardy. She was a lifelong member of Ravenna Christian Church and a former Sunday School teacher. She was a retired employee of the Union Bank and Trust Company, working there for 41 years. Mrs. Hardy was a Kentucky Colonel, a member of Timesavers Homemakers Club, a charter member o f the Marcum-Wallace Hospital Auxiliary, a charter member of the Estill County Historical and Genealogical Society, a member of the Elisha Witt Daughters of the American Revolution, Past Worthy Matron of Irvine Chapter of the Eastern Star #357; Past Worthy High Priestess of the Order of the Irvine White Shrine of Jerusalem #9, and a member of the Estill County Garden Club.
    Ms. Hardy was preceded in death by her brothers: James Clark Hardy Jr. and Karel Williams Hardy; and her nephew, Daniel Gordon Hardy.
    Survivors include her nieces Mrs. Susan Hardy Martin, Mrs. Brenda Lee, Mrs Jena Powell, Mrs. Sonja Bill and Mrs. Robyn Hardy Jones; and several great nieces and nephews.
    Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, August 19, 2019, at Lewis-Abner Home for Funerals with Bro. Jim Baughman and Bro. Tony White officiating. Burial will follow in the Sandhill Cemetery. Friends may call Monday after 11:00 a.m.at the funeral home. Eastern Star Funeral Rites will begin at 12:30 p.m.

Richard “Dick” Raymond Snowden Jr.

    Richard “Dick” Raymond Snowden Jr., age 96, husband of Joy, passed away at Marcum-Wallace Memorial Hospital in Irvine, Kentucky, Monday, August 12, 2019, after a short illness.
    He was a native of Estill County, born October 21, 1922, the son of the late Dr. Richard R. Snowden and Hazel Bicknell Snowden. Mr. Snowden was a United States Naval veteran, serving in World War II from 1943-1946 at Pearl Harbor. He also served during the Korean War in 1951. Mr. Snowden received his undergraduate degree from Centre College where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta. He then received his master’s degree from Eastern Kentucky University. He was a retired investigator for the Kentucky Department of Health and later, the Kentucky Attorney General’s office, and a narcotics investigator. He enjoyed golf and was a member of the Estill County Golf Club. He was a member of the Ravenna Christian Church. He was also a member of the Kentucky Colonel Commission.
    Survivors other than his wife of 68 years, Joy, include his three sons, Richard Snowden (Francie), Gregory Scott Snowden (Michelle) and Martin Bicknell Snowden (Margaret), all of Irvine; three granddaughters, Erin Snowden, Sara Snowden, and Olivia Snowden; and one brother, Hiram D. Snowden of Louisville. Also surviving are several nephews.
    Services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Thursday, August 15, 2019 at Ravenna Christian Church with Bro. Jim Baughman, and Bro. Tony White officiating. Burial will follow in the Berea Cemetery with full military honors. Friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, until service time.
    Pallbearers will be Clark Snowden, Roger McGee, Carl Barnes, Greg Horn, Tim Hall, and Brit Thompson.

Jessie Lynn Puckett

    Jessie Lynn Puckett, age 71, of Furnace Junction in Ravenna, Kentucky, passed away Monday, August 12, 2019, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.
    She was born August 30, 1947 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Alvin Dudley and Hazel Walters Tipton. She was a homemaker and a member of the Mt. Carmel Christian Church. She had lived in Estill County all her life.
    Mrs. Puckett was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Wayne Puckett.
    She is survived by one daughter, Libby Puckett, North Carolina; one son, Terry Wayne Puckett (Emma Rose), Estill County; one sister, Rebecca Bishop, Estill County; one brother, Virgil Tyrone Tipton, North Carolina; two grandchildren: Kyleigh Ren Puckett and Liam Michael Puckett; and several nieces and nephews.
    Mrs. Puckett was preceded in death by her brother, Michael B. Tipton.
    Funeral services were conducted Thursday, August 15, 11:00 a.m., at the Mt. Carmel Christian Church by Bro. Mark Pearson. Burial was at the Puckett-Tipton Cemetery. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Wednesday, August 14th at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home and after 10:00 a.m., Thursday, at the Church.

    Eva L. Cornett, age 91, of Poplar Street in Ravenna, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2019, at Baptist Health Lexington.
    She was born March 16, 1928 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late William and Mary Moore Cox. She was a former Carhartt, Inc. employee and attended the Irvine Free Methodist Church. She had lived in Estill County most of her life.
    Mrs. Cornett is survived by her daughter, Connie Cornett, Ravenna; two grandchildren: Jerry Wayne Fox and William Trevor Cornett; several great grandchildren; and a special niece, Rhonda Wood.
    She was preceded in death by two sons: Jerry Fox and Ronald Cornett; two sisters: Elizabeth Rowland and Emma Daniels; and two brothers: Raymond Cox and Lester Cox.
    Per Mrs. Cornett’s request, there will be no services.

    A Memorial Service for Marie Campbell will be held Saturday, August 24 in Irvine, Kentucky at Rice Station Christian Church. Visitation will be 12:00 Noon – 1:00 p.m. with the service at 1:00 p.m.
    Marie Campbell, age 88, formerly of Mansfield; Worthington, Ohio, and Orchard Park, New York, died peacefully Friday, July 26, 2019, surrounded by family members in Richmond, Kentucky.
    Born in Orchard Park, New York, the daughter of Walter and Ethel Sager, Mrs. Campbell attended Orchard Park Central High School (Class of 1948) and received her B.A. in Education from Hiram College, Ohio in 1952. After graduation, Mrs. Campbell taught English and Physical Education and was the cheerleading coach at Louisville High School (Ohio) until her marriage with the late Dr. Donald Campbell in 1956. They lived in Ann Arbor, Michigan before moving to Columbus, Ohio, where she taught at Prairie Norton High School, while raising her son, Scott and her daughters, Donna and Kellie. From 1964 to 1966, the Campbells lived in Tanzania, East Africa where Dr. Campbell worked establishing teacher training colleges in that nation. The Campbells enjoyed socializing with friends and taking numerous safaris into the savannahs of Tanzania and Kenya.
    After returning to the United States, the Campbells lived in Worthington, Ohio. There Mrs. Campbell served as substitute teacher in the Worthington School System and was the assistant coach for the girls' volleyball and track teams at Worthingway Middle School. For 40 plus years, Mrs. Campbell enjoyed attending Ohio State football games with family and friends, and attended the annual Memorial Golf Tournament in Dublin, Ohio, for more than thirty years. In 1979, Dr. and Mrs. Campbell moved to Mansfield, Ohio. While residing in Mansfield, Mrs. Campbell worked as assistant librarian at Shelby Middle School, was a member of the Shelby Country Club with her husband, and was active in the Mansfield Republican Party. She enjoyed travel in Europe and the U.S., and golfing with her husband Donald and friends.
    In 2016, Dr. and Mrs. Campbell moved to Kentucky to live with daughter Donna and family.
    Mrs. Campbell is survived by her son, Scott (Bethanne); her daughter, Donna Peterson (Douglas); and her daughter, Kellie Robbins (Brent); nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Marie Campbell will be dearly missed by her extensive family and many friends.
    Marie's Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 24 in Irvine, Kentucky at Rice Station Christian Church. Visitation 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m., Service 1:00 p.m.
    In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shiners Hospital for Children, Lexington, KY; Hospice Care Plus Compassionate Care Center, 350 Isaacs Lane, Richmond, KY; or Visiting Angels, 310 East Main St., Richmond, KY.

Jereld Eugene Miller

    Jereld Eugene “Loose Wire” Miller, age 76, husband of Beverly Long Miller, passed away Friday, August 9, 2019 at the VA Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.
    He was born December 20, 1942 in Estill County, to the late George and Elizabeth Ross Miller. He retired as a self-employed truck driver and heavy equipment operator. He was a United States Army veteran and served during Vietnam; a lifetime member of the D.A.V. and a member of Old Path Holiness Church.
    Other than his wife Beverly, he is survived by seven daughters: Bridgette Muncy (Michael); Libby Wiseman (Danny); and Lisa Rawlins (Timmy Joe), all of Irvine; Dawn Richmond (Keith); Angela Hayes (Jonathan); Teresa Day; and Bobbi Jo Knuckles (Steven), all of Berea; two sons: Jerald Eugene Miller Jr. (Christy) of Irvine; and Jamie Vaughn (Angela) of Richmond. He is also survived by a brother, Chester Miller (Pauline) of Beattyville; a sister, Mary Joyce Warner of Irvine; 27 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
    Jerald was preceded in death by seven sisters: Myrtle Maupin; Pauline Newman; Cora Hager, Laura Durbin; Opha Hall; Effie Peters and Virginia Whisman; as well as three brothers: Raymond Miller, Floyd Miller and Paul Miller; and one grandchild, Jarrod Tyler Miller.
    Visitation was 5-7 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at the Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, 1110 Barnes Mill Road, Richmond, with Bro. Marvin Marshall officiating. Burial was on Wednesday August 14, 2019 in the Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
    Pallbearers were Eugene Miller, Devin Wiseman, Andy Wiseman, Ryan Wiseman, Nicholas Puckett and Dylan Casey Miller.

    Geneva H. Delk, age 93, of Cincinnati, Ohio; passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 10, 2019.
    She was born to Ernest and Daisy Horn on June 30, 1926, in Irvine, Kentucky.
    Geneva is survived by her sons; James M. Cox (Margie) and Jack E. Cox (Ruth), grandchildren; James M. Cox Jr, Mark E. Cox (Monica), Cheryl Cox, and Jack Cox (Deanna), 17 great grandchildren, 14 great, great grandchildren, and many extended relatives and friends.
    She was preceded in death by her brothers: Harold Horn and Louis D. Horn; and two great, great grandchildren.

    Nannie Jean Kirby Melton, age 71, of Wallace Circle in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2019, at the Marcum & Wallace Memorial Hospital following a long illness.
    She was born March 6, 1948 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Joe and Maggie Johnson Kirby. She was a homemaker and had lived in Estill County most of her life
    Mrs. Melton was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Stanley Melton.
    She is survived by three daughters: Debbie Alcorn, Sandy Melton (Jesse Thacker), both of Irvine; and Norma Sparks (Tim Maggert), Loretto; one son, Terry Melton (Gayla), Irvine; four sisters: Christine Kirby, Mayme Dawes, Mae Lee Holland, all of Irvine; and Rhea Beth Noble, Beattyville; six brothers: Joe Kirby, Carl Kirby, Ivan Smith, Beverly Smith, Frank Townsend, all of Irvine; and Doug Kirby, Berea; two grandchildren: Thomas Ray Sparks and Johnathan Plowman; one step-grandchild, Christy Master; one step-great grandchild, Cassondra Alexander; one step-great, great grandchild, Clayton Alexander; two special great nephews: Keightley Wireman and Liam Mid Norton; and a host of other nieces and nephews.

    Harold Wayne Warner Jr. (AKA Bub), age 48, of Winchester, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, the 8th day of August 2019.
    A loving father, son, brother and uncle. Harold was born in Estill County on July 14, 1971 a son to Harold Wayne Warner Sr. of Estill County and Marilyn Warner of Winchester. He loved watching UK Basketball, fishing and most of all loved spending time with his family and most definitely loved his time with his three girls.
    Survivors include his three girls: Heather Holbrook (Lane), San Antonio, Texas; Elizabeth Shaye Warner and Abigayle Lou Warner, both of Winchester; his grandmother, Mary Joyce Warner; two sisters: Mary Carrizales of Estill County; and Rebecca Warner of Winchester; three nieces, one nephew, four great nieces and three great nephews, his wife and three stepchildren.
    Graveside services were conducted Sunday, August 11, 1:00 p.m., at the Warner Cemetery by Bro. Allen Epperson.

    Karley Beth Sparks, age 21, of Crooked Creek Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at her home following a sudden illness.
    She was born in Montgomery County on August 6, 1998 to Rodney Delbert Sparks and Linda Kaye Hamm Sparks. She was a caregiver for her mother and a member of the Pine Grove Pentecostal Holiness Assembly. She lived in Estill County all her life.
    Karley Beth is survived by her parents, Rodney and Linda Kaye Sparks; her grandparents: Ona Lee Sparks, Madison County; and Geneva Carol Hamm, Estill County; one brother: Lester Eli Sparks (Laura), Estill County; and her niece, Kenlie Sparks.
    Funeral services were conducted Saturday, August 10, 10:00 a.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home by Bro. Sidney Sparks. Burial followed in the Walton Cemetery. Friends called between 6-9 p.m., Friday, August 9th at the funeral home.

    Viola Mae Babb, age 85, of Reges Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2019, at the University of Kentucky Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington, following a short illness.
    She was born June 15, 1934 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Stanley and Ruth Bingham Jenkins. She was a homemaker and retired from the Estill County School System where she worked as a Library Aide at the Estill County High School. She was a member of the Beech Grove Baptist Church and had lived in Estill County most of her life.
    Mrs. Babb was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Babb.
    She is survived by one daughter, Carol Lynn Horn (Willard), Irvine; one brother, Robert Jenkins, Nicholasville; a sister-in-law, Myrtle Jenkins, Irvine; three grandchildren: Melissa Holbrook (Russell), Gerica Horn and Stanley Horn; and three great grandchildren: Brenton Holbrook, Susan Horn and Lydia Ingram.
    She was preceded by three sons: Charles Richard Babb, Gary Michael Babb and Gregory Wayne Babb; two sisters: Elizabeth Willis and Pearl Johnson; and four brothers: Tracy, Raymond, James and Douglas Jenkins.

    Elizabeth Frances "Birdie" Abner Osborne, 72, wife of Cecil, of Hamilton, Ohio, formerly of Estill County, passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2019, in Hamilton, after a sudden illness.
    She was born June 12, 1947, a daughter of the late Lawrence and Rebecca Johns Abner. Birdie was a homemaker who enjoyed bingo and spending time with her grandchildren.
    Mrs. Osborne was preceded in death by her brothers, Larry and Thomas Abner.
    Survivors, other than her husband of 54 years, include her children: Janet Purvis (Jimmy) and C.R. Osborne (Treva); her sisters: Diane, Linda, and Darlene "Pudd"; her grandchildren: Johnny-Ray Carberry, Bristol Lewis, Timothy Lewis, Gage Purvis, Stephen Osborne, and Victor Osborne; and her great grandchildren: Amelia Osborne and Harley Diesbach.

    Wesley Newton Rose, 76, husband of Joyce Sparks Rose, passed away Monday, August 5, 2019.
    He was born in Estill County on March 4, 1943 to the late Elmo and Vina Tuttle Rose. Mr. Rose was a graduate of Estill County High School and went on to attend the University of Kentucky. He was a retired employee of Phillips Lighting and enjoyed driving a mail truck for Spires Mail Transport for several years. Mr. Rose served as a director for the Estill County Farm Bureau Board and enjoyed farming as well as spending time with his family. He was a 40 year member of the Irvine Lodge #137, F. & A. M., and was a member of the Level Green Christian Church.
    Survivors, in addition to his wife, include: two daughters: Tammy Rogers (Doug) of Versailles and Jill Canter of Richmond; one step-daughter, Carla Day of Lancaster; two step-sons, Wayne Day (Tami) and Ronnie Sparks (Peggy), both of Paint Lick; one brother, Jerry Rose (Jessie) of Waco; one sister, Norma Stacy (E. B.) of Waco; three grandchildren, Adam Rogers (Arynn), Alyssa Rogers, and Ashley Simpson (Graham); four step-grandchildren, J. T. Henderson, Madison Day, Morgan Day, and Josh Sparks; as well as a host of other extended family and friends.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Cody Canter.
    Funeral Services were conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 10, 2019, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, 328 West Main Street, Richmond, with Bro. Harvey Spry officiating. Burial followed in the Manse Cemetery at Paint Lick. Visitation was from 5-8 p.m., Friday, August 9th at the funeral home.
    Pallbearers were Doug Rogers, Graham Simpson, Philip Riley, Shane Sparks, Adam Rogers, J. T. Henderson, Josh Sparks, Tanner Stacy, and Sam Stacy.
    Honorary pallbearers were Ashley Simpson, Alyssa Rogers, Madison Day, Morgan Day, Arynn Rogers and AnnMarie Stacy.
