Luetta Marie Smyth Wilson

    Luetta Marie Smyth Wilson, age 85, of Richmond Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2019, at her home following a long illness.
    She was born April 30, 1934 in Lee County and was the daughter of the late Donnelly and Bertha Samples Smyth. She was a homemaker and attended the Irvine United Methodist Church.
    Mrs. Wilson is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 66 years, Samuel Todd Wilson; one son, Bradley Todd Wilson (Rita), Irvine; two sisters: Eula Stanford, Illinois; and Audrey Merritt, Mississippi; three brothers: Bill Smyth (Zana), Clay City; Hobert Smyth, Indiana; and Jack Smyth (Joyce), Illinois; four grandchildren: Bryson Todd Reese (Kelli), Courtney Barnes (Ryan), Julia Harrison, and Morgan Kirby (Sam), five Great grandchildren: Cassie Kirby, Lillie Kirby, Ava Barnes, Bailey Reese and Reese Harrison; and a host of nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by her daughter, Vanessa Diane Hall; three brothers: Ottis, Cecil and Earnest Smyth; and one great grandchild, Kellen Sizemore.
    Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, December 11, 2019, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. John Anderson. Burial will be at the West Irvine Cemetery. Friends may call between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Floyd Walling

    Floyd Walling, age 85, of Garrett Avenue in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2019, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond.
    He was born October 20, 1934 in Irvine and was the son of the late Howell and Fanny Mae Charles Walling. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a retired employee of B&R Petroleum in Greenville, South Carolina. He was a member of the Philpot Chapel Baptist Church in East Bernstadt and attended the Calvary Baptist Church in Irvine for the past 20 years. He was devoted to his family and enjoyed fishing before he retired.
    Mr. Walling is survived by his wife of 32 years, Christine McIntosh Walling; his son, Floyd Bradley Walling, East Bernstadt; his stepson, Max Eugene Newton, Travelers Rest, South Carolina; eight grandchildren: Natasha Irvin, Cami Jo Watkins, and Tymothy O. Jarvis, Jr., all of East Bernstadt, SC; Lindsey Barnett, Allen Newton, Crystal Newton, Shannon Smith and Brian Laws, all of Greenville, SC; 14 great grandchildren: Devin Irvin, Makinzey Irvine, Nicholas Watkins, Abbigal Watkins, Camden Watkins, Peyton Jarvis, Scarlett Newton, Olive Newton, Ivy Lynn Newton, Madison Newton, Evan Crook, Emili Smith, Kameron Barnett and Kaleb Barnett; and his little dog, “Poochie”.
    He was preceded in death by his daughter, Angela Faye Jarvis; and one stepson, Roger Larry Newton.
    Funeral services were conducted Sunday, December 8, 2019, 2:00 p.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Todd Blevins. Burial was at the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends called between 12:00 Noon and 2:00 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home.

Hubert Ray Estes

    Hubert Ray Estes, age 66, husband of Sandra Frazier Estes, passed away December 4, 2019 at his residence on Hardwicks Creek Road, Clay City, Kentucky.
    Born at Furnace, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Elby and Mary Shoemaker Estes and he was a member of Knowlton Church of God. Ray was a custodian for the Powell County Board of Education and a farmer. He was a founding member and former secretary of the Powell County Livestock Association and a founding member of the Powell County Farmers Market. He was active in 4-H and founder of 4-H shooting sports. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Elby Estes, Jr. and Leonard "Bud" Estes.
    Ray is survived by his wife, Sandra Estes; one son, Jonathan Estes (Kayla) of Stanton; two daughters, Sarah King of Beattyville and Lesa Ledford (Jason) of Stanton; two brothers, Barry Edward Estes and Owen Estes (Lisa), both of Stanton; two sisters, Agnes Gay Williams of Ohio and Paula Caudill (Bobby) of Beattyville; and seven grandchildren: Dylan King, Megan King, Angela Ledford, Matthew Ledford, Skylar Ballard, Haily Estes and Alex Estes.
    Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Hearne Funeral Home Inc., 125 West College Avenue, Stanton. Visitation began at 5:00 p.m., Friday, December 6th at the funeral home. Burial was in Frazier Cemetery with members of the Powell County Livestock Association serving as active pallbearers.
    Honorary pallbearers were Jim and Ida Baker, Emily Baker, Diana Molihan, Connie Cecil, Johnny Kennon, Pam and Larry Hood, Glenn Creech, Sherry Hicks and Sarah Canode.

Tracey Kay Gaylord Owens

    Tracey Kay Gaylord Owens of Irvine, Kentucky departed this life Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at the age of 48 years.
    She was a daughter of William Gaylord and Lana Bush Caldwell, born in Covington, Kentucky on December 20, 1970. She was a homemaker and loving mother.
    Tracey is survived by two daughters, Brianna Hacker and Brooklyn Owens, both of Irvine; two grandchildren, Ryleigh Watson and Taylor Fetters; her father, William Gaylord of Florence; her mother, Lana Bush Caldwell of Zachariah; and two sisters, Megan Caldwell of Beattyville; and Tosha Gaylord of Florence. She also leaves behind a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
    She was preceded in death by her brother, Marcus Caldwell.
    A gathering of family and friends began at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at the Porter & Son chapel in Campton, with a celebration of life hosted by family & friends beginning at 12:30 p.m. Interment followed in the Bush Family Cemetery at Zachariah.

Walter Floyd Neal

    Walter Floyd Neal, age 84, of Pineway Avenue in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Monday, December 2, 2019 at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond following a long illness.
    He was born December 28, 1934 in Estill County to the late Jimmy and Lucy Powell Neal. He was retired from the Estill County Board of Education and was a member of the White Oak Church of God. He lived in Estill County most of his life.
    Mr. Neal is survived by his wife, Cynthia Shuler Neal; two daughters: Sharon Kay Hunt and Susan Faye Floyd, both of Estill County; one son, Kenneth Floyd Neal, Estill County; one sister, Yvonne Draggoo, Estill County; four brothers: Fairley, Jack Neal, Doug Neal, all of Estill County; and Robert Neal, Powell Co; several grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by his first wife, Agnes Muncie Neal; three sisters, and one brother.
    Funeral services were conducted Saturday, December 7, 2019, 2:00 p.m., at the White Oak Church of God by Bro. Glendon Woosley. Burial followed in the Oakdale Cemetery. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Friday night, December 6th at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home and after 12:00 Noon, Saturday at the White Oak Church of God.

    Rhonda Dell Tipton, age 66, of Battlefield Memorial Highway in Berea, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2019, at Baptist Health Lexington.
    She was born August 3, 1953 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Blondell Richardson and Betty Neal Day (Bill). She was a former employee of Daniel, Marrow & Nicol and was a member of the Eastern Star.
    Mrs. Tipton is survived by her husband of 48 years, Paul Edward Tipton; two sisters: Camera Wiseman, Ravenna; and Andrea Abney, Irvine; several nieces and nephews; and two honorary grandchildren, Taylor and Hannah Seals.
    She was preceded in death by her brother, Dale Richardson.
    Funeral services will be conducted Friday, December 6, 2019, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at the Gray Cemetery. Friends may call between 6 and 9 p.m., Thursday, December 5th at the funeral home.

Gilbert "Cowboy" McIntosh Jr.

    Gilbert "Cowboy" McIntosh Jr. died Saturday, November 30, 2019.
    He was a native of Estill County; he lived in Ohio and many years in Florida but called Kentucky home. He was born September 4, 1937, the son of the late Alice and Gilbert McIntosh, Sr.
    Cowboy was a proud sailor in the United States Navy, serving on the USS Randolph, USS Independence, and on the first crew to sail the USS Kitty Hawk. He had many jobs through the years. He ran a doughnut shop, several dry cleaners, and many restaurants, including Cowboy's in Ravenna with his brother Ferrell. He loved working on old cars and trucks with his buddies Larry and Dougie. It was his favorite thing to do. He also worked for Jimison Steel and worked on a horse farm with his friend Ms. Jane before retiring and returning to Kentucky. Although he never slowed down, he had a lot more time to yard sale and enjoy his beloved Bluegrass music.
    He is survived by two daughters, Debbie (and his buddy Mike) Moran, and Kelly Barnett (Tony); his best friend Sam Tipton, and his cousin who can do anything, Jackie Macy; his brother Theodore; and sisters, Nancy, Judy, and Faye.
    Mr. McIntosh was preceded in death by his brothers, Jerry and Ferrell; his sisters, Rertha, Joan, and Winnie Mae; and his longtime friend, Red Williams.
    The family wants to thank the staff at Cambridge Place for the love and care of Daddy, and the friendship and support for Debbie and Mike.
    Services were held at Lewis-Abner Home for Funerals on Wednesday, December 4, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. with visitation for family from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 p.m. and friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Burial followed in the Oakdale Cemetery.
    In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Alzheimer's Association.

    Homer Dwayne Goosey, age 58, of Tipton Ridge Road in Ravenna, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2019, at his home.
    He was born July 8, 1961 in Estill County and was the son of Mary Charles Goosey Richardson and the late Homer Goosey. He was a retired heavy equipment operator and had lived in Estill County most of his life.
    Survivors in addition to his mother include four sisters: Teresa Sparks, Marcia Hoover (Howard), both of Estill County; Kim McKinney (Dayton), Grant County; and Ellen Reece (Todd), Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his son, Jeramy Goosey; and his brother, Stevie Goosey.
    Graveside services were conducted Tuesday, December 3, 2019, 2:00 p.m. at the Goosey & Richardson Cemetery by Bro. Delvin Reece.

    Beulah Ladd, age 83, of East Point Drive in Lexington, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2019, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center following a short illness.
    She was born October 29, 1936 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Lonnie and Hazel Isaacs Murphy. She was a retired employee of the Fountain Circle Care & Rehabilitation Center and a member of the Northside Baptist Church.
    Mrs. Ladd is survived by her husband, Richard Eugene Ladd; two daughters: Teresa Carty, Paris; and Sherry Stone, Winchester; one son, Keith Boozer, Winchester; four sisters: Ima Ward, Virginia; Mary Wilcox, Louisville; Margie Barker, Lancaster; and Midge Miller, Irvine; two brothers: Everett Murphy, Richmond; and Tony Murphy, Ravenna; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by four siblings: Edra Eckler, Eula Gardner, Bonnie Murphy and Donald Murphy.

Edna Lykins Robbins

    Edna Lykins Robbins, widow of C. Glenn Robbins, Sr., passed away Friday, November 29, 2019 at her home in Clay City, Kentucky.
    She was born July 4, 1924 at Daysboro, Kentucky, to the late D. C. and Nora Lykins. She was a graduate of Alvan Drew High School at Pine Ridge, Kentucky, and the University of Kentucky. She was a retired merchant. She and her husband ran a small country store in Clay City, Robbins General Merchandise since the early 1970's. She also taught high school business in the 1940's at Irvine City High School and later in Dayton, Ohio. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Stanton, as well as a member of the Woman's Missionary Society of that church. She was always active in church, serving as a Sunday School teacher and a volunteer for Bible study at Dessie Scott Children's Home. While her husband was on dialysis, she volunteered at the Kentucky Kidney foundation.
    Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, C. Glenn Robbins, Jr.; and her sister and brother-in-law, Arnetia and Oliver Wood Jr.
    She is survived by her daughter, Dee Robbins; her daughter-in-law, Claudia Robbins; and four grandchildren, Bill Robbins (Karen), Leslie Herald (Ben), Chris Robbins and Jenni Smith (Jon). She is also survived by eleven great grandchildren.
    Viewing was at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, Monday, December 2, 2019, from 6-9 p.m. Funeral was at First Presbyterian Church, 420 North Main Street, Stanton, Tuesday, December 3rd at 1:00 p.m.

    James Harvey Puckett, age 85, of Puckett Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, November 28, 2019, at the Irvine Health & Rehabilitation Center following a long illness.
    He was born August 5, 1934 in Estill County and was the son of the late William Henry and Irene Clem Puckett. He was a retired employee of the Fayette County Board of Education and had lived in Fayette County most of his life.
    Mr. Puckett is survived by two sons: James Michael Puckett, Garrard County; and Bobby Dean Puckett, Florida; one sister, Leona Puckett, Montgomery County; two grandchildren: Jennifer Botkins and Christopher Puckett; and six great grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by two siblings: Lorraine Miller and Orville Puckett.

    Russell Morris Isaacs, age 73, of Steveland Court in Irvine, passed away Friday, November 29, 2019, at his home, following a short illness.
    He was born September 29, 1946 in Estill County and was the son of the late Leonard and Bethel Richardson Isaacs. He had lived in Estill County most of his life.
    Mr. Isaacs is survived by his wife, Pamela Sue Rawlins Isaacs; one daughter, Kristy Lynn Carroll, Lexington; one brother, Harold Isaacs, Estill County; and six grandchildren: Bryan, Ben, Brock, Bryce and Jace Carroll; and Keaton Henry.
    He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tonia Ann Henry; six siblings: Marcella Doty, Bobbie Jean Harrison, Annette Coyle, Louella Rose, Arlene Worrell and Jerry Isaacs.

    Robert Harrison was born March 3, 1944 in Madison County and departed this life Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at his residence, being 75 years of age. He was the son of the late Mathias & Bessie Rose Harrison.
    He is survived by his wife, Christine Harrison of McKee; one son, Steve Harrison (Tonya) of Mt. Washington; and by five siblings, Margie Simmons of North Vernon, Indiana; Francis Cain of Irvine, Janet Collins of Sadieville, Virgil Harrison of Irvine and Emma Harrison of Winchester. He was blessed with two grandchildren, Dylan Harrison and Melissa Harrison.
    In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by a son, Gerald Douglas Harrison.
    He was a member of the Kerby Knob Baptist Church.
    Funeral service were at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 30, 2019 at Lakes Funeral Home, 1181 Main Street South, McKee, with Bro. Darren Hisel officiating. Burial followed in the Harrison Cemetery on Lower Dry Fork Road.

    Carole Joyce Hunt Arthur, age 79, of Cow Creek Road in Ravenna, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, November 28, 2019 at her home following a long illness.
    She was born August 3, 1940 in Estill County to the late Elmer and Roberta Combs Hunt. She was a homemaker and a member of the River Drive Christian Church. She lived in Estill County all her life.
    Mrs. Arthur is survived by her husband, Cornelius Arthur; one daughter, Rebecca Carole Arthur, Louisville; one brother, Harold Hunt, Estill County; and one grandchild, Kenzie Brantley.
    She was preceded in death by two sisters: Berthalou Elkins and Sue Ann Henderson.

    Helen R. Hawkins, age 100, of Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Monday, November 25, 2019.
    Born October 16, 1919 in Estill County to the late Stephen and Pearl Hawkins, she was a retired Carhartt, Inc. employee and a member of Wisemantown United Methodist Church.
    Surviving are eight nieces: Carolyn Bowen, Vivian Thacker, Connie Popp, Sandra Calmes, Linda Woolery, Anna Waite, Debbie Gregory, Jeannie Derenge; and one nephew, Stephen Hawkins. She is also survived by several great and great, great nieces and nephews.
    Preceding her in death were three brothers: Lee, Marvin and Raymond Hawkins; and two sisters: Ethel Lillian and Nannie Mae Hawkins.
    Services were at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 30, 2019, at Warren F. Toler Funeral Home by Bro. Bob Casey with burial following in West Irvine Cemetery. Visitation was Saturday, from 12:00 Noon until the time of service.
    Pallbearers were Darren Dunaway, James White, Chad Hall, John Hall, Kevin Woolery and Alex Perkins.

Elfreeda Wise Wickizer

    Elfreeda Wise Wickizer, age 85, of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, widow of Rev. Charles Medbury Wickizer, died Friday, July 26, 2019 at UK Medical Center at Lexington in the Hospice Care Center.
    She was born in Estill County on November 19, 1933 to the late Elva and Mary Francis Clark Wise. She and her late husband Charles served Disciples of Christ Churches in numerous places such as Flat River, MO, Charleston, MO, Hiawatha, KS, New Albany, IN, Flora, IN, Palestine, IL, Fostoria, OH, East Liverpool, OH, Midway, KY and Warsaw, KY. After Charles retired, they settled in Lawrenceburg, KY where they became members at First Christian Church and spent their time together travelling in their RV. Elfreeda also enjoyed gardening and swimming in their pool at home.
    Elfreeda is survived by three children, Vera Frances Treadway of Lexington, Rev. Charles Morgan Wickizer (Lisa) of Powell, Ohio; and John Wise (Bonnie) Wickizer, of Lawrenceburg; three sisters, Lynda Parks (Montie), Ravenna; Thelma Dunaway of Richmond; and Mary Fox (Harry) of Ravenna; brother, Alonzo Wise (Margaret) of Tiffin, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Beth Harmon (Scott), William Treadway (Courtney), Rachel Rupp (Tim), Andy Wickizer, Katelyn Cox (Matthew), Travis Wickizer, Hannah Wickizer and Faith Wickizer; and six great grandchildren.
    Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by four sisters, Opal C. Critchfield, Chrystal Ashcraft, Wavlene Dunaway and Allene Wise; and two brothers, Wilbert E. Wise and James Wise.
    A Celebration of Life was held Saturday, August 31, 2019 at First Christian Church of Lawrenceburg at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Jim Wheeler officiating. Cremation was chosen.
    Gash Memorial Chapel of Lawrenceburg was in charge of arrangements.
