Lena G. Wilson

    Lena G. Wilson, age 94, widow of Jesse C. Wilson, of Irvine, Kentucky went to be with her Lord on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at Baptist Health, Richmond, Kentucky.
    She was the daughter of the late Alfred and Goldie Carroll.
    In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a great grandchild, Whitney, and a son-in-law, Mike Willis.
    Mrs. Wilson is survived by two daughters, Irene Bell (Garland) and Karen Willis, both of Irvine; one son, James Michael Wilson; six grandchildren, Jeffery, Jamey, Amy, Stacy, David and Tony; 19 great grandchildren, three great, great grandchildren, and one extremely special niece, Jeannie Carroll-Elkins.
    Lena was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a very devoted member of Irvine First Church of the Nazarene for 65 years where she played the organ and was very involved in the church -- church was her life. If she wasn't caring for her family you could find her sewing, she loved to sew, she was a lady of a thousand and thousands of stitches. She was a woman of many talents.
    Funeral services officiated by Bro. Curt Napier will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Irvine First Church of the Nazarene. Visitation begins at 12:00 Noon until time of service at the church. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Jeff, Jamie, David Shannon, Tony, Matt and Bryan serving as active pallbearers.
    The family asks in lieu of flowers a donation to the church in Lena Wilson's name be made.

Robert Cecil Burns

    Robert Cecil Burns, age 80, of Wagersville Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, April 11, 2021, at his home following a long illness.
    He was born June 8, 1940 in Estill County and was the son of the late Robert Leo and Madoline Hall Burns. He was a lifelong farmer and a member of the Estill County Agriculture Hall of Fame. He was also a retired police officer with the Irvine Police Department, a former deputy sheriff, served two terms as an Estill County Magistrate and worked as a crossing guard for the Estill County School System. He was a member of the Emanuel Baptist Church and had lived in Estill County all his life.
    Mr. Burns is survived by his wife, Beverly Ann Lansaw Burns; two daughters: Tammy Andrews (Dan), Fayette County; and Etta Bush (Anthony), Estill County; two sons: David Burns (Peggy Lynn), Estill County; and Dennis Burns (Cathy), Madison County; three sisters: Shelia Sparks, Peggy Chaney, both of Estill County; and Flona Linderhoff, Madison County; eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Fowler.
    Visitation for the public will be held Tuesday, April 13, 2021, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home. Private funeral services will be conducted by Bro. Sherl Thomas with burial at the Sparks Cemetery.
    Pallbearers are Greg Arvin, Stuart Arvin, Brent Arvin, Gerald Flynn, Charles Lancaster and Dennis Burns, Jr.

    Jon Russell Potts, age 43 of Winchester, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, April 9, 2021 in Benton, Kentucky of natural causes.
    He was born on May 21, 1977 in Gastonia, North Carolina the son of Terry and Julie Pressley Potts. He was a member and deacon of Central Baptist Church in Winchester, where he loved working with the youth group. He was a teacher of art at Estill County High School. He loved his family, his job, playing board games and woodworking.
    Mr. Potts is survived by his wife, Carol Potts of Winchester; his parents, Terry and Julie Potts of North Carolina; his paternal grandmother, Eloise Potts of North Carolina; two sons, Eric Mack and Ben Brian Potts, both of Winchester; a daughter, Ella Marie Potts of Winchester; and three brothers, James, Lee and Jordan Potts all of Gastonia, North Carolina.
    Visitation will be on Saturday, April 17, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until memorial service time at 12:00 Noon at the Central Baptist Church, 101 West Lexington Avenue, Winchester, Kentucky with Michael Houchens officiating.
    In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the Central Baptist Church of Winchester Youth Group or to Nightlight Christian Adoptions.

    Helen Kathryn Miller, age 69, wife of Lindsay Wayne Miller, passed away Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Clark Regional Medical Center, Winchester, Kentucky.
    She was born December 18, 1951 in Pond Gap, West Virginia to the late Cyril Waltes Huddleston and the late Birtie Belle Elswick.
    Survivors include, husband Lindsay Wayne Miller; children, Bobby Lee (Sandy), Irvine; Waltes Lee (Melinda), Clay City; Franklin Means (April), Flemingsburg; Joshua Means (Vinessa), Angel Clary, and Lenox Wayne Miller, all of Morehead; a brother, Steve Huddleston, Indianapolis, Indiana; sisters, Shirley Brown, Campton; Lois Madden, Slade; Jean Kirk, Clay City; Lynn Adkins, and Missy Huddleston, both of West Virginia; 13 grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Jane Elswick; a brother, Frankie Elswick, and a granddaughter, Rebecca Means.
    Services Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at Davis & Davis Funeral Home, 777 West College Avenue, Stanton, by Bro. Waltes Lee. David Ralph Howe

    David Ralph Howe, age 54, of Red Lick Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Friday, April 9, 2021.
    He was born September 7, 1966 in Madison County, Kentucky, and was the son of Ernest Ralph and Cecilia Wolfinbarger Howe. He worked as a butcher and manager of several grocery stores and had lived in Estill County all his life. He attended the Cedar Grove Methodist Church and was a member of the Estill County Golf Club.
    Survivors, in addition to his father and mother, include his sons: Matthew David Howe, Charleston, West Virginia; and Ethan Chase Howe, Irvine; and two sisters: Elizabeth Ann Wilson (Bucky), Irvine; and Jennifer Roscetti (Chris), Bethesda, Maryland.
    Private funeral services were conducted by Bro. Greg McClellan with burial at the West Irvine Cemetery
    Pallbearers were Bucky Wilson, Paul Wolfinbarger, Matthew Howe, Brian Crowe, Blake Crowe and Tanner Crowe.

Doris A. Clark

    Doris Clark, age 62, of McKee, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
    She was born in Richmond, Kentucky, October 14, 1958 to Harold and Mildred Kelly Short.
    Mrs. Clark is survived by her husband, Ronnie Clark; a son, Donnie Meece; a daughter, Cylina Johnson; five grandchildren, three brothers: Tubby Short, Larry Short, and Hershel Short; and five Sisters: Letha Smith, Kathy Fredrick, Margret Walters, Karen Arnold and Faye Creech.
    Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 9, 2021 at the Russell Flats Cemetery in McKee.

    Larry Edward Shoemaker, 70, husband of Mary Ellen Baker Shoemaker, passed away at his home in Clay City, Kentucky, on Monday, April 5, 2021.
    He was born January 19, 1951 in Powell County to the late Earnie Shoemaker and to Minnie Patrick Shoemaker. A veteran of the United States Coast Guard, he was later a machinist and welder employed by Alliance Machine Shop.
    Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellen Shoemaker; his mother, Minnie Patrick Shoemaker; a daughter, Jennifer Montenegro (Andres); and sisters, Judy Brewer (Richard), Joan Beswitheric (Tim), Janet Edwards (David), and Lori Patrick (Mitchell).
    Graveside services will be Friday, April 9, 2021, 1:00 p.m., Resthaven Cemetery by Rev. John Combs.
    Pallbearers serving, Brandon Patrick, Perry Lee Baker, Andres Montenegro, David Edwards, and Shannon Ritchie.

George Bowling

    George Lewis Bowling, age 78, of Grass Lake, Michigan, formerly of Irvine, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at his daughter’s home, under the care of Elara Hospice.
    He was born in Pikeville, Kentucky on June 9, 1942, the son of Joe Jack and Mildred Hensley Bowling. He married Nancy Perry Bowling on November 23, 1961 in Wayne County, Michigan, and she preceded him in death.
    George was a General Motors security guard, retiring after 32 years of service, a church bus driver, and a school bus driver for Estill County Schools of Irvine, Kentucky. He was known for being very personable, and as one who brought many to the Lord. George made a difference in the world; he loved humanity and helping people, and always saw the good in everyone. He never met a stranger, as all were friends, no matter what. Family, faith, and friends were his focus, and the love of his life was Nancy Perry Bowling, his wife.
    He is survived by his children, Judy Siebeneicher (Kevin), Donna Jean Whitaker, Daniel Perry Bowling, Amy Joe Bowling-Higgins (Arron), and Jackie Lynn Patrick (Johnnie); 13 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren, plus one on the way; his stepmother, Lucille Bowling; and a sister-in-law, Michelle Bowling.
    In addition to his wife, Nancy, George was predeceased by grandchildren, Brandon Higgins and Jackson Lee Patrick; a brother, Junior Bowling; and a son-in-law, Shayne Whitaker.
    Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., as well as 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home, Chelsea, Michigan.
    Kentucky visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 9, 2021 until time of service at the Williams Memorial Baptist Church in Ravenna. Funeral services officiated by Bro. Chris Winkler will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the church with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

    Kathy Billings DeBord, age 65, the wife of Charles Edward DeBord, passed away on Friday, April 2, 2021.
    Kathy, the daughter of the late Sam and Margie Camden Billings, was born on August 13, 1955 in Irvine, Kentucky. She was a wife and mother who loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a UK Basketball fan and she loved to shop. Kathy was very fond of her pets, Daisy Mae, Cisco and Allie, and her grand dog, JoJo.
    She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Charles; one son, Charles DeBord II (Sarah); three daughters: Samantha Medley (Doug), Renea Wall (Brian) and Charlotte Broaddus (Scott); four grandchildren: Nikki Cates, Austin DeBord, Kaylee Banks and Gabe DeBord; a great grandson, Hayden Cates; a brother, Kim Billings (Lesa); a sister-in-law, Louise Fields; as well several nieces, nephews and dear friends.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Geneva DeBord; her sister, Patsy Billings; her brother, Dave Billings; and a great grandson, Hunter Clark Cates.
    Funeral Services will be held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday evening, April 6, 2021 at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Bro. David Evans officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, prior to the service.

    John Randall Tipton, age 52, of Ravenna, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, April 1, 2021 at his residence.
    He was born October 7, 1968 in Dayton, Ohio to Pearl Raymond and Loretta Tipton.
    Mr. Tipton is survived by his parents, Pearl Raymond Tipton of Ravenna, and Loretta Hurley of Clay City; a daughter, April Richardson of Indiana; four grandchildren; a brother, David Pelfrey of Stanton; and a sister, Vonda Jones of London, Kentucky.
    Funeral services will be held 12:00 Noon, Monday, April 5, 2021 at the Grayson Funeral Home in Irvine. Friends may visit Monday from 11:00 a.m. 'till time of the service. Burial will be in the Gray Cemetery in Ravenna.

    Peggy Jane Centers, 85, of Waco, Kentucky, formerly of Buffalo, Kentucky (Larue County) and the widow of Eugene Centers, passed away on Thursday, April 1, 2021.
    Mrs. Centers was born in Estill County, Kentucky at Drip Rock, on January 22, 1936. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Maime Cox Ball. She was a retired nurse’s aide at Sunrise Nursing Center in Hodgenville and also did private duty nursing. Mrs. Centers was a member of The Buffalo Nazarene Church.
    Survivors include one daughter, Kathy Childers; two sons: Mike Scenters (Marty) and Ricky Scenters (Lula); a son-in-law, Jeff Nash; one sister, Ann Bernice Westbrook; six grandchildren: Shane Childers (Raysha), Sherry Shuford, Shea Scenters (Melanie), Jamie Brown (Jay), Travis Barnes (Kelly) and Brandy Smith (Stephen); and numerous great grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends.
    In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Kay Nash; a granddaughter, Angela Rainey; two sisters, Iona Adams and Viola Roark; a brother, Ivan Ball; and a son-in-law, Earl Childers.
    Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 5, 2021 at the Combs, Parsons and Collins Funeral Home with Bro. Andrew Singh officiating. Burial will follow in the Flatwoods Cemetery at Waco, Kentucky. Visitation will begin at 12 Noon on Monday at the funeral home.

    Geraldine Jewell Chrisman, age 77, of Estonia Drive in Richmond, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at the Baptist Health Lexington Hospital, following a short illness.
    She was born March 28, 1944, in Richmond, Kentucky, a daughter of the late John and Goldie Henry Hoover. She was a Food Supervisor with Aramark and had lived in Richmond most of her life where she enjoyed playing bingo.
    Geraldine is survived by two daughters: Donna Wilson (Aaron), Madison County; and Jennifer Bawden (Darin), Tennessee; and a son, Michael Chrisman (Vivian), Madison County.
    She was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Valery Hatton Williams

    Valery Hatton Williams, age 70, of Owingsville, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at the Ridgeway Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, following a long illness.
    She was born June 24, 1950, in Estill County, a daughter of the late Samuel Ray and Juanita Powell Hatton. She was a former Carhartt employee where she worked on the sewing line.
    Valery is survived by three daughters: Tammy York (Joe), Bath County; Shelley Arvin and Adreanna Williams, both of Fayette County; a son, Dale Wise (Lisa), Estill County; two sisters: Madeline Morris, Estill County; and Magnolia Rawlins (Glynn), Clark County; four grandchildren: Joseph York, Christopher Wise, Coleman Conrad and Samantha Arvin; and a great grandchild, Georgia Conrad.

    Nancy Alice Stringer Brinegar, age 70, of Grindstone Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at her home, following a short illness.
    She was born October 9, 1950, in Dayton, Ohio, a daughter of the late Reginald and Dorothy Cayton Stringer. She was a homemaker and had lived in Estill County most of her life where she attended the Calvary Baptist Church.
    Mrs. Brinegar was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Brinegar.
    She is survived by four daughters: Lanette Calhoun, Alabama; Patricia Hall, Madison County; Lori Smith, Fayette County; and Amy Rall, Ohio; two sons: James Nelson Calhoun, Ohio; and Ellis Brinegar Jr., Montgomery County; a sister, Gayle Marsh, Ohio; two brothers: Reginal Stringer and Jerry Stringer, both of Ohio; several grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Eugene "Buck" Carpenter

    Eugene "Buck" Carpenter was born May 2, 1954 in Jackson County, Kentucky and departed this life March 29, 2021 at the St. Joseph Hospital in London, Kentucky, being 66 years of age. He was the son of the late Floyd and Elva Isaacs Carpenter.
    Eugene is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Carpenter of McKee; and by two sons: Brandon Eugene Carpenter of McKee, and Brently Shane Eugene Carpenter (Jamie) of Berea; three grandchildren, Kylie Shae Carpenter of McKee, Soraya Starr Carpenter of Irvine, and Allison Lynn Haas of Berea. He is also survived by two sisters, Freda Harrison (Darrell) and Yvonne Freeman (William), a brother-in-law, Michael Gabbard who was like a brother; and Michael Chasteen who was like a son to him; and also Keith Coyle, who was a best friend and like a brother to him.
    Eugene was a member of the Sand Springs Holiness Church.
    Funeral Services for Eugene Carpenter were held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 3, 2021 at the Lakes Funeral Home in McKee, with Bro. Leonard Wilder, Bro. Mike McKinney and Bro. Larry Gray officiating; with burial in the Russell Flatt Cemetery. Visitation began at 6:00 p.m., Friday, April 2nd at the funeral home.
