    Corey Nathaniel King, age 19, of Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, May 9, 2021.
    He was born March 22, 2002 in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky. He worked for the Clay Ingels Company, Lexington, KY.
    Surviving are his mother, Betty Lou King of Irvine; his father, Albert Shawn Kirby Jr. (Amber Gordon) of Irvine; his paternal grandparents, Albert and Mary Kirby of Irvine; his maternal grandfather, Edgar King of West Liberty; his maternal grandparents, Terri Fields (Melvin) of Irvine; two sisters, Kendra Kirby and Chelsea King, both of Irvine; two brothers, Elijah Kirby and Bentley Kirby, both of Irvine; and a host Of aunts and uncles.
    Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Chapel, 367 Main Street, West Liberty, with Bro. Harry Frisby officiating. Interment will be in King Cemetery, Vance Fork. Visitation will be 11:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
    Active pallbearers are Zachary Conrad, Dawson Miller, Jeremy Hardy, Hunter Rison, Kadyn Hardy, Randall Johnson Jr., Ryan McDowell, and John David Riddel.
    Honorary pallbearers are Jakob Dudgeon, Justin Means, and Troy Mullins.

Dr. T. Dwaine Riddell

    Dr. T. Dwaine Riddell, age 73, of Poplar Street in Ravenna, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, May 6, 2021, at the Masonic Home in Shelbyville, Kentucky, following a long illness.
    He was born February 20, 1948 in Madison County and was the son of the late Thomas and Thelma Johnson Riddell. He was a retired teacher and principal with the Estill County School System and was a member of the Irvine First Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Irvine Masonic Lodge 137 F&AM, the Stafford Masonic Lodge 562, the Shriners, the Irvine Chapter & Council and served as a board member of the Masonic Home for 20 years. He was a former member of the Kentucky National Guard and had lived in Estill County all his life.
    Mr. Riddell was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Louise Lethgo Riddell; and two daughters, Doris Faye and Thelma Kaye Riddell.
    He is survived by his daughter, Dena Riddell Swim (Russ), Irvine; and his grandson, Micah Trey Swim.
    Visitation for the public will be held Monday, May 10, 2021, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home. Private services will be conducted by Bro. David Nichols, and Masonic Rites will be performed. Burial will be at the West Irvine Cemetery.
    In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Dr. T. Dwaine Riddell Memorial Scholarship through Citizens Guaranty Bank.
    Pallbearers are Micah Swim, Russ Swim, Jantzen Day, Kordel Day and the members of the Estill County Rescue Squad.
    Honorary pallbearers are Glenn Wise, Dwight Rogers and members of the Masonic Lodge.

Ricky David Richardson

    Ricky David Richardson, age 53, of Blackburn Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2021, at his home.
    He was born January 6, 1968 in Estill County and was the son of Barbara Goosey Richardson and the late Elwood Richardson. He was a bricklayer and attended the Substation Pentecostal Church. He had lived in Estill County all his life.
    Mr. Richardson is preceded in death by his wife, Danielle Harrison Richardson.
    Survivors in addition to his mother, include two sons: Brandon Keith Richardson, Estill County; and Nicholas Richardson, Corbin; one brother, Gregory Richardson, Estill County; one grandchild, McKinley Sparks; and a niece and nephew: Alexandria Lee and Grant Richardson.
    Memorial services will be held at a later date.

    Glenn Russell Witt, age 73, husband of Wanda Turpin Witt for 49 years and beloved father of Misty Witt Rupard, passed away at Baptist Health in Lexington, Kentucky, on Monday, May 3, 2021.
    Glenn was born February 9, 1948 in Estill County to the late Russell and Ruth Witt. Glenn worked for 25 years for Crew 311, State Highway Engineering Department in Irvine.
    Survivors other than his wife and daughter, include a son-in-law, David Rupard; a grandson, Sam Rupard; and his prayer warrior mother-in-law, Betty Turpin (Granny).
    He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Sherry Witt Hatfield, and a special nephew, Peter Harrison.
    Visitation for the public was held Friday, May 7, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home. Private funeral services were conducted by Bro. Aaron Batey with burial at the Sunset Memorial Gardens.
    Pallbearers were Junior Dunn, David Rupard, Jack Chaney, Tommy Jones, David Turpin and Donnie Witt.
    Honorary pallbearers were Bobby Shouse and Ray Arvin.

John David “J.D.” Vanderpool, 85

John David “J.D.” Vanderpool

    John David “J.D.” Vanderpool, the husband of Drucilla Taylor Vanderpool and the son of the late John David and August Williams Vanderpool was born in Lee County, Kentucky on July 8, 1935 and departed this life in Irvine, Kentucky on Monday, May 3, 2021 at the age of 85 years, 9 months and 25 days. He retired from the Kentucky State Highway Department after working as a mechanic for 26 years.
    In addition to his wife, Drucilla of Beattyville, Kentucky; J.D. leaves behind three nephews, Roger, Glen, and Kenny Vanderpool, also all of Beattyville; two nieces, Judy Richardson (Jimmy) of Irvine, and Linda Hurd of New Hampshire; and a host of other relatives and friends.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Rothel and Lowell Vanderpool; and one nephew, Johnny Vanderpool.
    Funeral services will be private with burial in the Bowman Cemetery on Old Hwy. 11 North in Beattyville.

    Jimmy Bernard Watson, age 75, of Sandhill Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at his home following a short illness.
    He was born September 9, 1945 in Powell County and was the son of the late Jess and Bessie McCoy Watson. He was a retired farmer and attended the Ivory Hill Baptist Church. He had lived in Estill County most of his life.
    Mr. Watson was preceded in death by his wife, Mona Abney Watson; and is survived by his daughter, Ginny Watson, Estill County; his son, Jimmy Watson, Jr., Estill County; two sisters: Barbara Cole and Patsy Powell, both of Powell County; one brother, Jesse Duwain Watson, Clark County; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by four siblings, Jonell Barnes, Gaylord Watson, Benny Watson and Eddie Watson.
    No services are scheduled at this time.

    Patricia Gail Hurley, age 62, of Wisemantown Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, following a long illness.
    She was born March 20, 1959, in Estill County, a daughter of the late Howard and Geraldine Lutes Wilson. She was a homemaker and had lived in Estill County all her life. She was a member of the Pine Grove Pentecostal Church of God.
    Patricia is survived by one son, Jeremiah Vaught, Estill County; three sisters: JoAnn Harrison, Darlene Ballard, both of Estill County; and Loretta Mackey, West Virginia; and three grandchildren: Emerald Vaught, Payton Hall and Jaxon Hall.
    She was preceded in death by two brothers, Lonnie and Willie Wilson.
    Visitation for the public was held Saturday, May 1st, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home. Private funeral services were conducted by Bro. Sidney Sparks with burial at the West Irvine Cemetery.
    Pallbearers were Mitchell Hurley, Rondall Booth, Jerry Mackey, Willie Hurley, Jesse Chaney and Buel Gilbert.

Robert Glen Calder

    Robert Glen Calder, age 94, of Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Monday, April 26, 2021, at the Irvine Health and Rehabilitation Center following a long illness.
    He was born March 10, 1927, in Corbin, Kentucky, a son of the late Dallas Graham and Katherine Gregory Calder. He retired from CSX Railroad where he was a Train Master and had lived in Estill County most his life. He was a member of the Cedar Grove Methodist Church where he sang with the Cedar Grove Quartet. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during World War II. He was a member of the Gideons, the Masonic Lodge No. 137 F. & A.M., and a former member of Kiwanis. He was a past Director of the Estill County EMS, and he loved gardening.
    In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Noland Calder.
    Mr. Calder is survived by two daughters: Corinne Evelyn Calder, Estill County; and Carol Ann Calder, Georgia; and a brother, Burlyn Graham Calder (Nina), Corbin.
    He was preceded in death by two sisters: Burlean Calder and Corrine Dale; and five brothers: Denver, Dallas, Bruce Alexander, Roy Deaton, and Herbert Wayne Calder.
    Visitation for the public was held Friday, April 30, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Private funeral services were conducted by Bro. Joseph White with burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
    Pallbearers were Walsa Blanton, Charlie Park, Jeff Tate, Anthony Newton, David Newton and Steve Garrett.
    Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Rose, Tom Bonny, Larry Calder, Michael Dale, Brent Calder, and Ronnie Calder.

Bonnie Jean Duke

    Bonnie Jean Duke, age 87, of Clay City, Kentucky, widow of William Hayden Duke, passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at Clark Regional Medical Center in Winchester, Kentucky.
    Born December 11, 1933, in Estill County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Sarah Ann Williams Means. Bonnie worked in the cafeteria at Bryan Station High School in Fayette County for over 20 years.
    In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Earl Duke.
    She is survived by four sons, Michael Duke (Donna) of Oklahoma, Randy Duke of Frankfort, Joe Duke of Clay City, and William Duke Jr. (Emily) of Danville; two daughters, Elizabeth Cole of Clay City, and Elise Marie Sowder of Georgetown; two brothers, Merrill Means (Phyllis) of Paris, Kentucky; and Douglas Means (Kathy) of Winchester; one sister, Fay Purcell of Richmond; seven grandchildren, Sarah Poley, Brandon Duke, Will Cole, Bonnie Smith, Elaina Kinser, Logan Duke, and Ryan Duke; and ten great grandchildren, Mackenzie Poley, Morgan Poley, Mavrick Poley, Miles Poley, Jonathan Smith, Jessa Smith, Kye Kinser, Jordy Kinser, Aidan Kinney and Cameron Duke.
    Funeral services with an eulogy given by Elizabeth Cole will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 30, 2021 at Lewis-Abner Funeral Home. Visitation begins at 11:00 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sally Poore Cemetery in Irvine with Daniel Kinser, William Cole, Gary Smith, Jonathan Smith, Logan Duke and Ryan Duke serving as active pallbearers.
