    Mattie Broaddus Hughes Mastin, age 105, of Richmond Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, September 8, 2013, at the Irvine Health & Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness.
    She was born April 15, 1908 in Lee County and was the daughter of the late Sidney and Mattie Eller Howell Hughes. She was a homemaker, a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and the Estill County Historical & Genealogical Society.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Herschel Mastin; two sons, Ralph and Harold Mastin; one daughter, Mae Shearer; one grandson, Scott Mastin; one sister, Stella Swinford; and four brothers, Jim, Charlie, Roger and Bill Hughes.
    She is survived by one daughter, Bettye Baker (Roger), Stanton; one son, Lewis Mastin (Eva), Franklin, Indiana; seven grandchildren: Trena Linders (Hans), Prescott, Arizona; Michael Mastin (Suzanna), Zionsville, Indiana; Donna Baker (Pat), Plainfield, Indiana; Kelly Mastin, Bargersville, Indiana; Tammie Hawk (Lin), Charleston, West Virginia; Todd Mastin (Linda), San Antonio, Texas; and Sidonie Sweet (Kevin), Stanford; eight great grandchildren: Luke Mastin, Franklin, Indiana; Jessica Baker, St. Louis, Missouri; Dan Baker, Plainfield, Indiana; Ian Mastin, San Antonio, Texas; Kaitlyn Hawk, Charleston, West Virginia; Kyle Mastin, Kurt Mastin, both of Zionsville, Indiana; Kris Mastin, Bargersville, Indiana; two daughters-in-law: Lois Mastin, Prescott, Arizona; and Aleen Rhodes (Carl), Irvine; several step-grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends.
    Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 12th at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Max Hester. Burial will be at the Powell's Valley Cemetery in Clay City. Friends may call between 6 and 9 p.m., Wednesday, September 11th at the funeral home.
    Pallbearers will be Todd Mastin, Lin Hawk, Sidonie Sweet, Mike Mastin, Sheldon Baker and Sherwin Baker.

    Cecile Patton, age 87, of Crossville, Tennessee, passed away September 8, 2013 at Cumberland Medical Center.
    Cecile was born on September 7, 1926 at Cob Hill, Kentucky, to Sanford and Dora Ann Dickerson Patrick.
    Survivors, all of Tennessee, include, children: Linda Futrell of Rockwood, Alan Patton (Kathy) of Monterey, Ava Patton, Rita Walker (Milton), Harvey Patton and Howard Patton, all of Crossville; grandchildren: Danny Futrell Jr. of Rockwood, Jason Futrell of Crossville, Tina Carter of Rockwood, Toby Patton of Crossville, Dusti Hubbard of McMinnville; Brandi Kirk, Willie Patton, Tommy Prichard, and Timmy Anderson, all of Crossville; 20 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild.
    Cecile was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Willie H. Patton; son, Dale Patton; brothers: Clinton, Chester, Harrison, John, Raymond, and Tracy Patrick; sisters: Florence Lynch, Myrtle Good, Hazel Durbin, Elsie Profitt and Alma Combs.
    Family receivee friends on Tuesday, September 10th from 5 to 7 p.m. at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, 2653 North Main Street, Crossville. Funeral service followed at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Randall Dye officiating. Burial was on Wednesday, September 11th at 11:00 a.m. at Linary Cemetery.
    Pallbearers were Danny Futrell Jr., Jason Futrell, Toby Patton, Willie Patton, Jacob Futrell, Zachary Comer and Danny Futrell.

Charles Spicer, 65

    Charles Spicer, age 65, of Richmond Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, September 8, 2013 at Baptist Health Lexington after a long illness.
    He was born September 9, 1947 in Estill County and was a son of the late George and Mary Haddox Spicer. He was a farmer and a mechanic and had lived in Estill County most of his life. He attended the Sanfield Pentecostal Holiness church.
    He is survived by his wife, Judy Dale Farthing Spicer, Estill County; one son, Charles Spicer Jr., Estill County; two stepsons: Gary Shelton and Ernie Shelton; two sisters: Eva Ballard, Estill County; and Millie Ballard, Paris; one brother, Delbert Spicer, Estill County; five grandchildren: Justin Lee Shelton, Angela Nicole Jessica Rowe, Lillian Shelton, Angel Spicer and Jesse James Spicer.
    In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Jesse James Spicer.
    Graveside services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 9th in the Pitts Cemetery by Bro. Kevin Phillips.

Paul Glen Watkins, 66

    Paul Glen Watkins, age 66, husband of Lori Russell Watkins, passed away Friday, September 6, 2013 in Lexington, Kentucky, after a short illness.
    Mr. Watkins was a native of Breathitt County Kentucky, born April 16, 1947, a son of the late Corsie and Florence Brewer Watkins.He was a retired employee of General Motors. Mr. Watkins was preceded in death by his siblings Mae Gabbard, Viola Johnson, Golden Fowler, Johnny Watkins, James S. Watkins and Ola Watkins; and a special nephew Jimmy Keith Scott.
    Survivors other than his wife Lori, include his son, Randall Watkins; his daughter, Barbara Moberly; three grandchildren; his siblings: Imogene Thacker, Opal Kidd, Garnett McCorkle, Carl Watkins, and Carol Fox; and several nephews and nieces.
    Services were held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 10th at Lewis Funeral Home with Bro. Scott Rogers officiating. Burial followed in the Williams Cemetery. Friends called any time after 6:00 p.m., Monday, September 9th at the funeral home.

    Anthony Horn, age 66, of Estill County, Kentucky, passed away suddenly, Thursday morning, September 5, 2013 at his home.
    He was born August 1, 1947, in Madison County, to Rev. Earl and Lucy (Ratliff) Horn, both of whom preceded him in death. He was a retired letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Lexington and had served his country as a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of Tates Creek Baptist Church and of the Disabled American Veterans.
    Survivors include his loving wife, Nenita (Soriaso) Horn of Estill County; one daughter, Luci Horn of Richmond; one son-in-law, Tim Luttrell of Berea; one brother, Walter Horn of Hamilton, Ohio; three grandchildren, Morgan Marshall, Lindsay Horn and Chase Luttrell; one great-grandson, Saunti Izaya Miranda; as well as several nieces and nephews.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Clarissa Luttrell and one sister, Deborah Young.
    Visitation for Anthony was held 1 – 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 7th at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, 1110 Barnes Mill Road, Richmond. The funeral service for was at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, September 8th at the funeral home with Bro. Jerry Huffman officiating. Burial followed in the Horn Family Cemetery in Estill County, with military honors.
    Pallbearers were Tim Luttrell, Shelby Dennis, Mark Marshall, Brian Marshall, Randy Bach, and Lucas Miranda.
    Honorary bearers were Chase Luttrell, Doug Marshall, and Steve Horn.

    Tonja G Puckett, age 49, of Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, September 5, 2013 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, Lexington after a long illness.
    She was born August 7, 1964 in Montgomery County, Kentucky, to Thomas Puckett and Faye Brewer Neal. She attended Stanton First Church of God and was a longtime employee of EZ Stop Food Mart and Clay City IGA.
    Survivors include, a daughter, Krana Puckett; her mother, Faye and husband Kenneth Neal; her father, Tom and wife Geraldine Puckett; a sister, Tammy Puckett; brothers: Tommy and wife, Susan Puckett, and Jed and wife Tammy Puckett; special friends, Janet and Delmer Barnett; "Special Sisters" Britni Farris and Brooke Young; "Special Brother" Jeff Barnett; and many close family members and friends. Services Sunday, September 8th at 2:00 p.m. at Davis & Davis Funeral Home, Stanton, by Rev. Anthony Molihan. Visitation, Saturday, September 7th, 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Audra T. "Casey" Case, 76

    Audra T. "Casey" Case, age 76, of Troy, Ohio, formerly of the Cincinnati area, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2013 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
    He was born October 19, 1936 in Irvine, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon W. and Mary Ellen (Johnson) Case; brothers: Charlie, Osa, Ove, Garnie and Roscoe Case; and sisters: Kallie and Leona Case and Mattie Brandenburg.
    Mr. Case is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Marilyn A. (Wandstrat) Case; sons and daughter-in-law: Jeffrey Case, Cincinnati; Anthony and Naomi Case, Cincinnati; daughters and sons-in-law: Angela Parris, Cincinnati; Selina and Dan Greene, Cincinnati; Andrea and Scott Kieffer, Troy; 13 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; a brother, Don Case, Irvine; sisters: Dean Tipton, Vandalia, Ohio; and Velma Blackwell, Irvine.
    Audra was retired from Forrest Pharmaceutical and enjoyed fishing.
    An open house to celebrate his life was held on Friday, September 6th, 3-7 p.m., at his daughter's home in Cincinnati, Ohio. If so desired, contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami County, P.O. Box 502, Troy, Ohio 45373.

    Johnnie Ray Means, age 69, the husband of Rachel, passed away Monday, September 2, 2013 at the UK Chandler Medical Center in Lexington.
    Johnnie was born on October, 24, 1943 in Estill County, the son of the late Orbin and Lola Hale Means. He was a retired farmer and was the caretaker of several local cemeteries. He was a member of the Stacy Lane Pentecostal Holiness Church.
    Survivors include his wife, Rachel Crowe Means; his children: Melinda Means, David Means (Shelia) and Kathy Martin (Marco), all of Richmond; and Roger Means (Connie) of Berea; five brothers: Beverly Means, Hubert Means, Wendell Means (Rickie) and Bruce Means, all of Richmond; and Roger Means (Judy) of Mount Sterling; four sisters: Nannie McElroy (Donnie) of Liberty, Bernice Henderson (Bill) of Nicholasville, Mary Hurt (Jim) and Vicki Singleton (Bill), both of Richmond; 11 grandchildren: Melissa Williams, Felicia Owens, JoAnne Embree, John David Means, Dallas Means, Josh Willis Means, Jonathon Means, Zachary Martin, Heather Mullins, Brittany Ingle and Karianne Martin; 11 great grandchildren: Samuel Williams, Cameron Williams, Caden Williams, Johnny Byrd, Ryan Byrd, Landon Embree, Tucker Means, Raylee Means, Machenzie Cates, Katie Cates and Blakeleigh Martin; as well as several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
    In addition to his parents, Johnnie was preceded in death by a brother, Steve Allen Means.
    Funeral Services were held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 5th at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Rose officiating. Burial followed in the Flatwoods Cemetery. Visitation was from 5-9 p.m., Wednesday, September 4th at the funeral home.

William Myron Williams, 50

    William Myron Williams, age 50, of Clarksville, Tennessee, formerly of Irvine, passed away Friday, August 30, 2013 at Mon General Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia.
    He was born September 25, 1962 in Estill County and was a son of Melvin L. Williams and Myra Thomas Finney. He was retired from the Military Special Forces, having served in Desert Shield, Desert Storm, Afghanistan and Iraq. He was a member of the Rice Station Christian Church, Clarksville Masonic Lodge, VFW, American Legion, and the Wingman Motorcycle Club.
    He is survived by his father, Melvin Williams, Estill County; his mother, Myra T. Finney, Estill County; three sons: Jason Thomas Williams, Lexington; Jacob Alexander Williams and Mason Lee Williams, both of Virginia; one sister, Leah Williams, Estill County; one brother, Christopher Lee Williams, Estill County; and one niece, Lona Katherine Williams.
    Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 4th at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home chapel by Bro. Matt Vaught. Burial will follow in the Williams Cemetery. Friends may call between 6:00 and 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 3rd at the funeral home.

John Dewey Wiseman, age 67

    John Dewey Wiseman, age 67, of South Madison Avenue in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2013, at his home following a short illness.
    He was born May 26, 1946 in Estill County and was the son of the late Vernon and Mary Alice Walling Wiseman. He was a carpenter and attended the White Oak Church of God. He had lived in Estill County all of his life.
    Mr. Wiseman is survived by his wife, Glenda June Griffin Wiseman; two daughters, Lorrie Wiseman and Johnna Bach (Randy), both of Estill County; three brothers: Stanley Wiseman, Richmond; Cebert Wiseman and Raymond Wiseman, both of Estill County; five grandchildren: Cody Makenzie Hall, Madison Hall, Sheena Bach, Samantha Bach and Justice Bach; and one great grandchild, Braelynn Ruth.
    He was preceded in death by one sister, Anna Mae Harrison; and three brothers: Tracy, Winfred and Edward Wiseman.
    Funeral services were conducted at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 3rd at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Glyndon Woosley. Burial was at the Oakdale Cemetery. Friends called after 11 a.m., Tuesday, until service time at the funeral home.

Russell Fred Brandenburg, 86

    Russell Fred Brandenburg, age 86, Elizabethtown, Kentucky, husband of Angeline Jean Cioffi Brandenburg, to whom he would have been married for 60 years as of Sep. 5, 2013, passed away Friday, August 30, 2013 at the University of Louisville Hospital.
    He was born May 6, 1927 in Estill County and was a son of the late Fred Wesley and Willie Hume Richardson Brandenburg. He was a carpenter and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was a World War II veteran of the United States Air Force.
    He is survived by his wife, Angeline Jean Cioffi Brandenburg, Elizabethtown; two daughters: Teresa Brandenburg DeStefano, Cincinnati, Ohio; and Donna Brandenburg Fohl, Elizabethtown; one son, David Brandenburg, Springfield, Ohio; three sisters: Madonna Jenkins (Boyd), Delma Lee Lakes, and Evelyn Jean Williams (Don), all of Irvine; two brothers: Junior Brandenburg (Christine) and Harold Brandenburg (Carol), both of Irvine; and eight grandchildren: Jennifer Miller, Melissa Miller, Julie McNamee, Justin Brandenburg, Kelly Brandenburg, Tom Fohl, Steve Fohl, and Mike Fohl. Seven great grandchildren also survive.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters: Lillian Kirk, Lena B. Henry, and Jo Etta Brandenburg; one brother, James Brandenburg; and one grandchild, Joseph Fohl.
    Funeral services were conducted at 4:30 p.m., Sunday, September 1st at Calvary Baptist Church by Rev. Max Hester. Burial followed in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends called after 1:30 p.m. until service time at the church.
    Pallbearers were Tom Fohl, Steve Fohl, Mike Fohl, Justin Brandenburg, Jason Brandenburg, Ronnie Brandenburg, Byron Roberts, John Henry, and Wesley Jenkins.

Roger Lee Estes

    Roger Lee Estes, age 54, Deltona, Florida, passed away at the Hospice Care Center in Sanford, Florida on August 3, 2013 after a short illness.
    He was born on March 25, 1959 in Estill County to the late Bradley and Brucie Estes.
    He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Brenda Wilson Estes, Deltona; a daughter, Melinda Dooley (Keith), Irvine; stepdaughters, Cyndy Masiarczyk (John), Kansas; Renee Johnson, Florida; two grandsons, five step-grandchildren, and one step-great grandaughter. Also left behind were two brothers, Greenville Estes (Linda), Irvine; and Howard Estes (Barsha), Ohio; and two sisters, Rhoda Patrick (James), Richmond; and Dixie Wise (Bill); Ravenna.
    He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary; and a brother, Dale.
    He enjoyed returning to Kentucky to hunt, fish, and visit his family and friends. He was disabled and spent his spare time crafting knives, painting, and making jewelry.
    He left private instructions regarding his death and there was no public memorial.

Harold Ray Muncy, 53

    Harold Ray Muncy, age 53, of North Magnolia Street in Tompkinsville, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, August 25, 2013 at his home following a long illness.
    He was born February 9, 1960 in Estill County and was the son of the late Ernest and Amanda Estes Muncy. He was a former employee of Liquidators and had lived in Estill County most of his life.
    Mr. Muncy is survived by four daughters: Crystal Faye Muncy, Stanton; Amanda Yvonne Childers (Kenneth), Rogers; April Michelle Hull (Kenneth), Tompkinsville; and Misty Rae Dawn Muncy, Stanton; two stepsons: Joseph Lee Ledford and Joshua Warren Ledford (Jessica), both of Irvine; one brother, Lonnie Muncy (Betty), Irvine; and eight grandchildren: Ashley Rae Nichole Muncy, James William Ray Puckett, Melissa Ra-Dawn Childers, Brittany Yvonne Marie Chaney, Chandler Bryce Raker, Shayla Paige Ledford, Jocelyn Renee Ledford and Joshua Warren Ledford Jr.
    He was preceded in death by one brother, Larry Daniels; and one grandchild, Kenneth Marshall Childers Jr.
    Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 28th at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Terry Barnes. Burial will be at the Crowe Cemetery. Friends may call between 6 and 9 p.m, Tuesday, August 27th at the uneral home.

Florence Marie Lawson Powers, 88

    Florence Marie Lawson Powers, age 88, of Winchester, Kentucky, widow of Ward H. Powers, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, August 22, 2013.
    She was born in Corry, Pennsylvania., on January 27,1925, to the late Clifford and Esther Lawson. She was a homemaker and a volunteer for many years at the local hospitals in Winchester, Kentucky, and Dyersburg, Tennessee.
    She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years in 2010; six brothers: George, Cliff, Frank, John, Robert, and Raymond Lawson; and two sisters: Mildred Hulings and Ruth Jaquith.
    She is survived by her six children: Alan Powers of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi; Janine (Denzil) Cole of Irvine; Barbara (Stan) Anderson of Halls, Tennessee; Ken (Denise) Powers and Leslie (Wendel) Burns of Dyersburg, Tennessee; and Susan (Bill) Nichols of Lexington; 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and three great, great grandchildren.     Visitation was held, 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, August 25th at the Rolan G. Taylor Funeral Home, 289 S. Main Street, Winchester; with burial in Pinegrove Cemetery, Corry, Pennsylvania at a later date.
