Billy Ray Hall

    Billy Ray Hall, age 75, of Rose Ridge in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Monday, January 3, 2022, at his home following a long illness.
    He was born April 3, 1946 in Clark County and was the son of the late Morris and Pauline Stone Hall. He was retired from Osram Sylvania and was a member of the Bethel Christian Church.
    Mr. Hall is survived by his wife, Arleen Tuttle Hall; two sons: Jeff Hall (Rhonda) and Randy Shumate (Becky); two sisters: Carol Kicklighter and Charlene Mitchell; one brother, Ronnie Hall; three grandchildren: Logan Hall, Robin Brooks and Chris Miller; and six great grandchildren: Timmy Miller, Cameron Miller, Trista Miller, Kiley Brooks, Madeline Brooks and Jasper Brooks.
    He was preceded in death by his son, Gary Hall and one brother, Bobby Hall.
    Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, January 8, 2022, 11:00 a.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bill Curtis officiating. Burial will be at the Wood Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, January 7th from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

Virginia Puckett Witt

    Virginia Puckett Witt, age 82, of Winchester, Kentucky, widow of Harold Luther Witt, passed away peacefully at 9:35 p.m., Thursday, December 30, 2021 in her home.
    A native of Estill County, Kentucky, she was born on January 7, 1939, to the late Henry and Lula Ballard Puckett. She was a passionate floral designer for many years at Craft Nook and a member of Landmark Baptist Church.
    Survivors include two children, Pamela Witt Waltermire of Clark County and Gary Witt (Rhonda) of Jeffersonville, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Baesha Bridges (Zach), Makenzie Kinder (Ian) and Logan Witt; two great grandchildren, Weston Bridges and Sawyer Bridges; three brothers, Ray “Kenny” Puckett (Carol), Gilbert Puckett (Susie), and David Puckett (Bobbi); a sister, Margaret Louise Shouse (Tony); and one sister-in-law, Barbara Witt Crump (Aubrey); as well as, several nieces and nephews.
    In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by siblings, Wayne Puckett, Albert Puckett, and Ada Puckett Michael.
    Virginia will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her family was her main love, and she would be there for any of them with a smile on her face. She was a special lady who will be greatly missed by all. She brought so much beauty to this world in more ways than one.
    Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at Scobee Funeral Home, 219 West Lexington Avenue, Winchester, by Brother Jimmy Muncie. Burial will follow in Clarmont Memorial Gardens. Visitation was held on Monday, January 3rd, 5-7 p.m., at the funeral home.
    Pallbearers will be Larry Puckett, Mike Puckett, Scott Puckett, Ace Puckett, Steve Puckett, Dennis Brannock, and Mark Collier.

    Glendon Darrell Hurley, age 48, passed away Saturday, January 1, 2022 in Irvine, Kentucky.
    He was born August 27, 1973 in Mount Sterling, Kentucky to the late Norman and Wilma Sue Goodwin Hurley. Darrell lived in Powell County all of his life except the last six months he stayed with a very special aunt and uncle in Irvine.
    Survivors include, a daughter, Darla Sue Hurley, Stanton; a son, Glendon Darrell Hurley Jr, Stanton; a sister, Lisa Jo Barnes (Wayne Burton), Irvine; a niece, Savanna Faye Barnes, Irvine; five aunts, Mayfra Hurley, Irvine; Wanda McIntosh, Stanton; Louise Hall (Nelson), Clay City; Kitty Goodwin, Clay City; and Judy Goodwin, Stanton; three uncles, Chester Hurley, Irvine; Randy Goodwin, Clay City; and Billy Joe Goodwin, Stanton; special friends, Richard and Judy Brewer, Chad Rogers, and Jimmy Willoughby; and a host of cousins and friends.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Kenneth and Lois Faye Powell Goodwin, and James and Sue Ellen Marcum Hurley; aunts, Lucille Hurley and America Hurley; and uncles, Archie Hurley, Arnold Hurley, Anthony Goodwin, Johnny Goodwin, and Doug Goodwin.

Samuel Edward Tipton

    Samuel Edward Tipton, age 73, of Mountain Crest in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Friday, December 31, 2021, at the Mercy Health Hospital in Cincinnati following a short illness.
    He was born September 4, 1948 in Estill County and was the son of the late Bernie and Mary Emma Tipton. He was retired from Benton Heating & Air and had lived in Estill County all his life.
    Mr. Tipton was preceded in death by his wife, Irma Profitt Tipton; and is survived by one daughter, Pamela Jolley of Irvine; one son, Brandon Tipton of Irvine; two sisters: Amanda Witt and Julie Spicer, both of Ravenna; two brothers: Pearl “Jabe” Tipton of Ravenna and Bernie “Knocky” Tipton of Ohio; and two grandchildren: Donavan Satterfield and Zachariah Satterfield.
    He was preceded in death by one sister, Estine Tipton; and one brother, William Gentry “Codge” Tipton.
    Funeral services were conducted Sunday, January 2, 2022, 2:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Kenny Wasson officiating. Burial was at the Tipton Cemetery. Visitation was held Sunday from 12:00 Noon to service time at 2:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

    Donald Wayne Hatton, age 78, of Brush Creek Road in Clay City, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, December 30, 2021, at his home following a short illness.
    He was born January 10, 1943, in Powell County and was the son of the late Homer and Hazel Profitt Hatton. He was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War and retired from the Kentucky Conference of The United Methodist Church. He attended the West Bend Methodist Church.
    Mr. Hatton is survived by his wife, Irene Lynn VanSciver Hatton; two sons: Dr. John Wesley Hatton (Julie) of Louisville and Michael Wayne Hatton of Erlanger; one sister, Mary Golden Huff of Powell County; one brother, Wallace Glenn Hatton of Jeffersonville, Kentucky; one half-sister, Patricia Hailperin of North Carolina; and two grandchildren: Emory Kim Hatton and Elise Madeleine Grace Hatton.
    Graveside services will be conducted Monday, January 3, 2022, 11:00 a.m., at the West Bend Cemetery with Bishop Al Gwinn and Revered Samuel Glenn officiating.

    Jo Callahan, age 71, of Irvine, Kentucky, wife of the late Clifton Callahan, passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at the Baptist Health Hospital in Lexington.
    She was born in Campbellsburg, Henry County, Kentucky, July 29, 1950. She was a housewife and a member of the South Irvine Pentecostal Church of God.
    Mrs. Callahan is survived by two sons, Clifton Callahan (Bonnie) of Irvine and Robin Callahan (Berenice) of Richmond; four sisters: Donna Tipton (Ronnie), Diana Powell, both of Irvine; Lisa Hawk and Tina King, both of Ohio; ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one brother, Bobby May of Ohio; and three sisters: Vivian Weiss (Don) of Ohio, Charlene Taylor of Irvine, and Christina King of Ohio.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Ida Whitaker; her husband, Clifton Callahan; a son, Rusty Callahan; and a sister, Linda Pendagraph.
    Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, January 2, 2022 at the South Irvine Pentecostal Church of God with Bro. Jerry Rose officiating. Friends may visit Sunday from 1:00 p.m. 'till time of the service. Burial will be in the Callahan Cemetery.

    Bettye Lowen Freeman, age 81 of Stanton, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at the Clark Regional Medical Center in Winchester.
    She was born August 25, 1940 in Lexington to Wilson and Leota Griggs Lowen.
    Bettye is survived by a son, Timothy Freeman and wife Sherrie; and two grandchildren, Drew and Trevor Freeman.

    Melissa Louise Kerby King, 45, passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2021.
    Melissa was born in Estill County on September 22, 1976 and graduated from Estill County High School in 1994. She was a Database Administrator for the Lockheed Martin Corporation in Lexington, Kentucky.
    She is survived by two children: Randy Scott King Jr. (Paige), and Sarah Jean King; her father, Gary Michael Kerby; her mother, Stella Mae Watson White (James); one brother, Chris Kerby (Elizabeth Dessa-Lena); one sister, Misty Epperson (Aaron); one grandson, Randy Tripp King; her paternal grandfather, Marshall Kerby; and her canine companion, “Maya”.
    Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 2, 2022, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, 328 West Main Street in Richmond with Pastor Eric Patrick officiating.     Virginia Lee Ormes, age 76, of Old Fox Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Monday, December 27, 2021, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, following a short illness.
    She was born March 6, 1945 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Lee Vernon and Della Mae Means Brooks. She attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses and had lived in Estill County all her life. She was devoted to her family.
    Mrs. Ormes was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Riley Ormes, Sr.; and is survived by three daughters: Rose Marie Finlayson (Mark), Mary Lee Ormes, both of Estill County; and Jennifer Lorine Ormes, Bourbon County; two sons: Billy Ormes, Jr. (Aimee) and Johnny Dee Ormes (Patty), both of Estill County; one sister, Lillian Tubbs, Bourbon County; two brothers: Orville Brooks and Donald Brooks, both of Estill County; 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by three sisters, Ella Faye Jackson, Loretta Brooks, and Ugetta Brooks; and two brothers, Billy and Johnny Brooks.
    A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, January 15, 2022, 11:00 a.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home.

    Judy Darlene Abney Baker, age 72, of Kingston, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2021 at Baptist Health – Richmond.
    She was born in Jackson County on September 25, 1949.
    Mrs. Baker retired from Hyster-Yale and enjoyed sitting on her back deck reading her Bible and enjoying the wildlife outdoors. She was an active member of Victory World Outreach Center in Richmond where she helped in the children’s class and was known as “Momma Baker” to many.
    Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Terry D. Baker; her children, Libby Wiseman and Dale Baker (Allison); ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Delphia Abney; one daughter, Christina Baker; and two sisters, Deloris Tipton and Jane Shivel.
    Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 1, 2022, at Victory World Outreach Center, 2233 Lexington Road, Richmond, with Pastor Chris Holman officiating. Burial will follow in the Dreyfus Cemetery. Visitation will be after 11:00 a.m., Saturday, at the church.

    Donald Ray Horn, age 82, of Reges Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, December 23, 2021, at his home following a long illness.
    He was born October 17, 1939 in Estill County and was the son of the late Troy and Corria Meredith Horn. He was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a retired employee of the Kentucky State Highway Department of Transportation. He was an elder at the Ravenna Christian Church, a Kentucky Colonel and a member and past Master of the O.D. Henderson 437 Masonic Lodge. He had lived in Estill County most of his life.
    Mr. Horn is survived by his wife, Millie Sue Burnett Horn; three sons: Donald Ray Horn, II (Christy), Gregory Scott Horn (Kim), both of Estill County; and Mark Allen Horn (Kim), Madison County; and eleven grandchildren: Jacquline Renae Horn, Adam Dalton Horn, Dakota Paige Lyvers, McKenzie Rae Horn, Joshua Sturgill, Makayla Raye Horn, Rachael Nicole Horn, Aaron Gage Sturgill, Chase Allen Horn, Andrew Benjamine Sturgill and Cruz Ellington Horn.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Teresa Renae Sturgill; his sister, Doris Faye Horn; and a brother, Garry Horn.
    Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, December 29, 11:00 a.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tony White officiating. Burial will be at the West Irvine Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. with Masonic Rites at 7:30 p.m.

Stanley Ferrell Postlethwait

    Stanley Ferrell Postlethwait, age 96, of Robert Telford Drive in Richmond, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at the Compassionate Care Center following a long illness.
    He was born January 3, 1925 in Paden City, West Virginia and was the son of the late Ray and Icie Grimm Postlethwait. He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Forces and served during World War II. He was a retired employee of the United States Forestry Service, a member of the Southland Christian Church and was a former member of the Masons.
    Mr. Postlethwait was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Kay Eckley Postlethwait; and is survived by his son, Stanley Bruce Postlethwait; and his grandson, David Anderson.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Roberta Anderson; and his sister, Donna Jean Ferrebee.

    Genevieve Richardson, age 95, of Sandhill Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Friday, December 24, 2021, at the Irvine Nursing & Rehabilitation Center following a short illness.
    She was born October 19, 1926 in Whitesburg, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late John P. and Pearlie Quillan Caudill. She was a homemaker and a member of the Sandhill Christian Church. She had lived in Estill County most of her life.
    Mrs. Richardson was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Richardson; and is survived by one daughter, Rayma Faye Evans (Dwight), Madison County; two sons: Howard Richardson (Millie) and Kenneth Richardson (Pam), both of Estill County; one sister, Aliene Palmer, Clark County; one brother, Willis Caudill, Letcher County; nine grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and five great, great grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by one sister, Ruby Berry; and four brothers, Charles Caudill, John Caudill, Jr., Granville Johnson and Rufford Caudill.

    James Park Tevis, age 80, of Sandhill Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at the Marcum & Wallace Memorial Hospital following a long illness.
    He was born August 26, 1941 in Estill County and was the son of the late Earl and Bernice Congleton Tevis. He was a long-term employee of the R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. and later retired from the Thompson Engineering Co. He was affiliated with the Morris Creek First Church of God and had lived in Estill County all his life.
    Mr. Tevis is survived by his wife, Doris Dean Garrett Tevis; his son, Park Allen Tevis, Irvine; one sister, Phyllis Ann Freeman (Bill), Irvine; one grandchild, Jeffrey Allen Tevis (Savanna); one niece, Sheila Freeman; and one nephew, Billy Earl Freeman.
    He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Eva Karen Tevis.

    She was born September 6, 1950 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Eugene and Christine Jones Tipton. She was a homemaker and attended the Hargett Church. She had lived in Estill County most of her life.
    Mrs. Walling was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Walling; and her grandson, Thomas Lambert.
    She is survived by her daughter, Crystal Lambert of Estill County; one sister, Carolyn Coffey of Montgomery County; one brother, David Gene Tipton of Estill County; two grandchildren: Angel Spicer and Alexandria Lambert; and one great grandchild, Sebastian Romos.

    Wilma L. Wiseman Horn, age 79, of Winston Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Monday, December 20, 2021, at her home following a courageous battle and living life to the fullest.
    She was born September 1, 1942 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Arch and Lula Campbell Wiseman. She was an employee of the Estill County Board of Education where she worked as a cook. She had lived in Estill County all her life.
    Mrs. Horn was preceded in death by her husband, William Horn.
    She is survived by her son, Dwight “Deebird” Horn (Margaret) of Estill County; two grandchildren: Richard Kyle Horn and Shelby Janell Stewart (Josh); and her special niece and caretaker, Peggy Turpin.
    In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her one son, Charles Mason Horn; one sister, Louise Villers; and two brothers, Arthur Wiseman and Russell Wiseman.
    Funeral services were conducted Monday, December 27, 2021, 11:00 a.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Kevin Turpin, Bro. Eric Patrick, Bro. Doug Baker, and Bro. John Villers officiating. Burial was in the Sonny Powell Cemetery. Visitation was held Sunday, December 26th from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
    Pallbearers were Tim Wiseman, Anthony Wiseman, Jeff Wiseman, Richard Horn, Josh Stewart and Paul Snowden.

Virginia Kaye "Jennie" West

    Virginia Kaye "Jennie" West, age 57, of Irvine, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, December 17, 2021 at Stanton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a short illness.
    She was born in Irvine on December 29, 1963.
    Mrs. West is survived by her husband, Rick West, and one daughter, Seirra West, both of Florida. She also leaves behind five siblings: Phyllis Tipton of Florida, Carolyn Marcum, Jerry L. Chaney, both of Irvine; Steven G. Chaney, and Paul D. Chaney, both of Ravenna.
    In addition to family, she had many loving friends, nurses, and staff at Stanton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, her home for many years. The family is very thankful for the kind and loving support she received during her time there. A very special thanks goes out to both the Stanton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center as well as Hospice East of Winchester, for the care given. We are forever grateful for your kindness and warmth.
    There will be a Private Memorial Service at a later date in the Spring.

Mary Dena Walling

    Mary Dena Walling, age 71, of Winchester Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Monday, December 20, 2021, at the Marcum & Wallace Memorial Hospital following a long illness.
    She was born September 6, 1950 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Eugene and Christine Jones Tipton. She was a homemaker and attended the Hargett Church. She had lived in Estill County most of her life.
    Mrs. Walling was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Walling; and her grandson, Thomas Lambert.
    She is survived by her daughter, Crystal Lambert of Estill County; one sister, Carolyn Coffey of Montgomery County; one brother, David Gene Tipton of Estill County; two grandchildren: Angel Spicer and Alexandria Lambert; and one great grandchild, Sebastian Romos.
    Funeral services will be conducted Friday, December 24, 2021, 12:00 Noon at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tim Floyd officiating. Burial will be at the West Irvine Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 10:00 a.m. to service time at 12:00 Noon at the Funeral Home.
    Pallbearers are David West, Michael Ferguson, Johnny Witt, Terry Sexton, Steven Sexton and Marty Dawes.

Wilma L. Wiseman Horn

    Wilma L. Wiseman Horn, age 79, of Winston Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Monday, December 20, 2021, at her home following a courageous battle and living life to the fullest.
    She was born September 1, 1942 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Arch and Lula Campbell Wiseman. She was an employee of the Estill County Board of Education where she worked as a cook. She had lived in Estill County all her life.
    Mrs. Horn was preceded in death by her husband, William Horn.
    She is survived by her son, Dwight “Deebird” Horn (Margaret) of Estill County; two grandchildren: Richard Kyle Horn and Shelby Janell Stewart (Josh; and her special niece and caretaker, Peggy Turpin.
